  1. Hello, new to the forum, nice place, very informative I told a friend I would try & find some info for him (he has no internet access.. no seriously.. ) & this looks like a helpful forum so I was hoping to get some ideas for him he wants to build a grow room out of a retail glass display case. He said the case was 70" inches x 20 inches" x 30 inches". It has 2 flour. lights in it, & he said something about maybe using them or can he even use the fluor. lights? or putting a HPS MH light w/ reflector hood in the top of the glass case using suction cups... think this will work? & is the area going to be big enough. I do not know what he plans on doing about cooling or venting or the odor & Im pretty sure he hasnt thought that far ahead... any suggestions.. what are some of the pros and cons of a setup like this? I tried to tell him his thumb is black not green & he has already broke rule 1 so thx 4 any help

  2. Display case can be used but the only problem is the height at only 30 inches this leaves space only for use of flourescent tubes at the top... HPS wound work as it needs at least 12 inches away from the tops of the plant and thats only a 250watt verson, larger wattage requires more distance.

In addition whatever light you use if this is a stealth grow where you want the plants to remain inside the case you will have to use a screen of green technique (SCROG). this is done by placing chicken wire or some sort of net with holes over the plants and keeping all the branches under it until its time to flower the plant.

My suggest to him would be to ditch the idea, simply not enough room even if you filled the case part way with soil and not use pots, simply too low.

  3. well I let my buddy read this and he still wants to do the display case because he has no other option... I showed him this link http://www.sunlightsheds.com/turn_key_units.htm and thought he may be able to use something here.. (probably too expensive though) like the mini-caddy, the pc grow area looks cool but only provides for 2 plants & I think he wants at least 5-10 plants..
