Need help! Bowl just snapped clean in half

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by hotboxbrent, Mar 1, 2007.

  1. shit guys, I was just smoking after school and I though my neighbor saw me and I was freaking out. I dropped my bowl on concrete when i was tapping it out. The question is can I glue it back because it is a clean cut, it wouldnt take too much glue. And then if I cant glue it, would I be able to melt it back together? I could put both pieces in a vice (wrapped in a towl) then heat up each end then with leather gloves and shit on i could stick emm back together and maybe score the end parts first to get a good mash?
PLEASE HELP ME I LOVED THAT BOWL!

  2. use a very minimal amount of glue, don't want to be inhaling those tasty chemical vapors

  3. im really more interested in 'welding' the pieces back to gether with a small blow torch. The kind that you screw onto a propane bottle. I think i would be able to do that, any comments or points in the right direction?

  4. are you serious?

you can't weld it back together, either glue it or buy a new bowl.

  5. hey, ya im serious. I'm good with my hands and at fairs/themeparks ive seen people using these kinds of torches to melt glass rods and sculp glass figures. So why could I not do this with a pipe?. If anyone has any knowledgs of something related to this please help me.

  6. I've heard propane torches melt glass too quickly, and the glass just distorts itself without you being able to do anything.

Just put a minimal amount of hot glue on it, try to get most of it on the outside of the bowl, so there is only glass on the inside of it.

  7. A bowl is hollow, you cant weld it back together...i wouldnt wanna take that risk inhaling all the chemicals, ide say just buy a new bowl man.

  8. not worth the risk of inhaling the vapors of whetever u use to reconnect the bowl since i twill be under a direct heat source

  9. You cant weld glass. If anything buy a new bowl or if you like it THAT much, try hot glue or epoxy.

  10. why would you do that to yourself? hot glue melts under heat and you have no idea what chemicals you're inhaling.

listen bro i would strongly advise against using any type of sealant in a bowl as i said before.

  11. Buy a new bowl, it's not worth inhaling toxic vapors from the glue and epoxy.

  12. Yeah, man....the chemicals could do some damage, I would think. If the bowl means THAT much, keep it in a box and give it a bowl or two in it's rememberance on your new piece. It's worth the 20 bucks.

  13. I dont think you guys are understading me. I DO NOT WANT TO USE GLUES/APOXY. I just want to find out if there is any way to melt the glass and put it back together.

  14. THERE IS NO WAY!

trust me man, you CAN NOT do it.

just to work on a piece it needs to be heated in a kiln, i believe, there's a small chance i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure.

    you basically have two options....

    either buy a new piece

or use glue and take the risk of inhaling vapors.

on a side note, i've used electrical tape on bowls and it's worked. and there's no worry of inhaling fumes since it's all on the outside.

  15. go to a pet shop and look for aquarium glue used it on a bubbler when it broke, works great, made for glass too

  16. yea just put alittle apoxy on the edges an itll work fine

  17. emagdnim13 is right. you CANNOT use a torch. there is no way to evenly distribute the heat from the torch. the pipe will heat unevenly and shatter once one spot cools down. buy a new piece and keep the old one for memories.

  18. I was always told to not glue it back together because of the chemicals.

Replace the bowl if you have the fundage.

If you dont and need a temp solution, duck tape for the win! Or an apple.

  19. I would have looked at your neighbor and told him to fuck off if he was looking at me. When I broke my bowl, I just used super glue to piece that shit back together, and it was also a clean cut so your in luck man.
