Need advice to Add bulk.

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by madman2067, Sep 13, 2011.

  1. So this is my first post here I've been following a lot of people on this forum for many months as I've started my first grow on the forums for many forms of advice. So with that in mind my plants are on the fifth week of flowering, I would love to provide pictures but I am quite paranoid. They've showed signs of slow growth and I'm not sure what I can do to prevent that. I'm not quite sure if it was the length of time I had them vegging, it wasn't long enough. the strain is white widow and the plants seemed to be smaller than they should be.I know that I still have three or four weeks of flowering left but I think that the plants should be bigger than they are. Other than being smaller than I liked, the plants look remarkably healthy. They have an almost intoxicating aroma that fills the entire flowering tent. One of the few people that have been privileged enough to see my garden say that the plants are incredibly beautiful. So the real question is how I get my plants to start to bulk up a little bit? The bud sites that it already has seem to be growing at a very slow rates. The three clones that the mother also shares the tent with were only just rooted when they were forced flowered. Those clones have remained rather small but the bud sites are very compact.

  2. Post pics. This site is cool

  3. yah, u can attach pics and upload them to the site. just make sure if ur using a smartphone to take the pics... that the gps is turned off and ull be fine.

for bulk and or slow growth. make sure ur feeding them enough. the very tips of the fan leaves etc should be burnt. that lets you know they are soaking up their fill... but not too much. and light. the more light the better. more light more light more light.

  4. okay so even against my better judgment I decided to take some pictures. Sorry about the quality the camera is a piece of crap.they are officially at 30 days of flowering today.

  5. so here's a lineup from a left going around to the rights on the far left side all the way around the outside are the three clones, and in the center is the mother plant of those three clones. On the front right is an Afghan Kush. the Afghan is behaving completely differently than all the other white widows, it tends to like a lower pH which you can see in the picture the leaf tips are curling downwards due to the pH imbalance. You can also see that the Afghan is twice maybe even three times the size of the white widow cousins. of course this is different genetics so that alone can explain why the Afghan is larger than the white widows however, it is still frustrating to see that three or maybe even four weeks these plants should be ready to harvest and I'm afraid that they won't be as large as I'm hoping that they would be. as far as lighting is concerned all five plants share the same 600 W HPS bulb. The grow tent is 3 x 3 x 73, the light is currently about a foot and a half above the plants. I keep a close watch on the temperature keep it at around 75 during the day and around 68 during the nights.

  6. Other than making sure your feeding good, you can check into molasses. Some people swear it ads bulk to the buds. I have never tried it though so you may want to research alot first. I thought White widow, while potent was kind of small yielding anyway

  7. this is my first grow so I don't have any baseline to compare to. I don't know how much these plants will bulk up in the next three to four weeks. Joker thanks for the suggestion to use molasses I'll have to look into it. I knew going into this that white widow wasn't the best performer, but by no means is it the worst. right now I'm using Fox Farms nutrients and also Fox Farms ocean forest soil. The plants seem to love it and there's no sense in changing that. I'm open to any more suggestions, I love to hear them. Thanks again for all the help.

  8. Out of my 10+ plants harvested so far, I just harvested a Scrogged White Widow, whom I allowed to go ten days beyond what the breeder said, and though the nugs are dense as hell, it was my lowest yield... by over an ounce! I yielded maybe 1.5 ounces. Granted she had a very short veg time, and a small pot(2gal).

Being that I am familiar with your medium and nutrient lineup, I will try to throw a few things out there....

What are you using for water? Testing the ppm's? adding Cal/Mag if necessary?

What is the pH going in and coming out? I find that with Ocean Forest, it hasss to be over 6.5 or else you run into a slew of problems.. I have been gradually moving it up. @6.7 currently.

What is your typical feed lineup? I usually max out at about half strength. I may add a little more big bloom here and there, as it does not add too much.

Hope you get something from this man.... just tryin to help if I can!:smoke:

  9. okay to get to your questions, I'm using just filtered tap water that goes through a PUR water filter. I let the water sit overnight before I give it to the plants to let the chlorine evaporate. The pH of the water is so high so I adjusted down to about six before I get the plants. The pH of the water coming out is about 6.7, I however do not have a parts per million tester. The plants have been showing no signs of nutrient deficiencies. However like the title implies I am trying to add bulk to my plants. This particular strain of white widow was also bred with big Bud the breeder claims to produce about 500 g/m².

I've been following fox farms feeding schedule to the T, not deviating whatsoever. I've yet to you nutrient burn one of my plants and they have shown no sign of deficiencies. Like you said before, this is my first grow. I plan for it to be a perpetual. I have several mother plants vegging right now just waiting to be cloned. With all the time that I've invested so far. I would just like to see my plants growing a little bit faster. I've seen these other pictures of these other white widow plants that are just monstrosities compared to the small fruit pretty plants that I have. I'm just wondering if there's just some kind of secrets nutrients some kind of super growth. Some growth hormone for Mary Jane that I just need to get my hands on? Not that I'm into that genetic engineering kind of thing. Anyways, but let's be honest. Everybody's trying to get something more out of their plants. These posts have inspired me to start a grow Journal however, I'm going to wait so I have a camera that does these beautiful plants justice.

Thanks again for all that but so far I would love to hear some more. Anything else you could add I would be grateful. Oh, and sorry if there are grammatical mistakes or spelling errors. I just got Dragon NaturallySpeaking and it hasn't quite learned my voice yet. Pretty cool though. Well I will keep you posted guys. Thanks again.

  10. You feed with a pH of 6.0 and the runoff is 6.7 using only Fox Farm nutrients and Ocean Forest????? Did you add anything else to the soil?

  11. I haven't added anything else to the soil. I can't tell you why there is a difference but he plants don't seem to mind. I imagine it is because of the extra perlite that is in ocean forest.

  12. Buddz I've been checking out your perpetual grow looks very impressive. Where can I find one of those scrog guides that you have over your pots the green ones?

  13. I got them at Home Depot for like $3.49 or so? I found them a little annoying when trying to get all my girls nice and close to one another... but otherwise verry easy and convenient..

The only reason I asked about the pH is because I experience the exact opposite.. I use the same nutes but when I water @ 6.6 I get a runoff of 5.9... and I only use half nutes? Must be the water... I dunno:confused:
