Need advice. Sick plants

  1. Hi everyone, I am a novice grower who has run into a bit of an issue. My plants seem to always be deficient and I can’t figure it out.

    some history:

I have been growing in pro mix HB.
Nutes this time are medi one in 2 of the plants and Gaia green dry in the other two.

growing in a 2x4 tent under 2 mars hydro at 1000. Room temps are at 73F @ 60% humidity. Light have been on 24/7

    Genetics are purple kush.

pot size: clone came in Dixie cups and were just transplanted into 1gal pots last week.

new growth was explosive after transplant then all of a sudden they started to show deficiencies. Purple stem and stocks, purple in the viens and now yellowing in the leaf margins in the New growth. Old growth is still dark green.

my first though was they were hungry. So I gave them a half strength feeding if medi one for the two medi plants (6.3ph) and straight ph water of 6.3 for the two in Gaia green.

they didn’t like the feeding at all. Symptoms only got worst. So next watering I ph my water to 6.3 and flushed one of the medi one fed plants and checked the run off.

I use tap water. Ppm is always between 14 and 20 ppm. Run off ph was 5.1 and @1200ppm?

so I flushed the one medi one plant with 6.8 ph water until I could get the medium up to ph of 6.2 ish. I used almost 5 gals of water and that’s as high as it would go. The second medi one plant I decided to transplant into a larger pot (3 gallon) with pro mix indoor potting soils. That’s all they had at the store. And the 2 Gaia green pots I decided to leave and see what would happen if they only got water.

I have giving them a spray of epsom salt in the last couple days and I think they might have like it a bit. Growth has slowed but not completely stopped.

my un experiences guess is that I am having a ph lock out. I know testing run off is not the most precise way to test but water coming out was much more acidic then going in and the ppm was very.

One thing to mention is the pro mix I’m using is very old. I cracked the bail in April of 2019 and I have no idea how long it was at the garden store before I purchased it. Could the ph buffers in the pro mix be worn out???

I bought a second ph pen because at first I though my pen was out of calibration. I calibrate the both pens every week and they are always within 0.01 of each other.

Many thanks to whom ever can point me where I’m going wrong. It could be a combination of problems.

A picture can say 1000 words.

2 on the left are the ones being fed medi one. The 2 on the right are the ones on straight water and Gaia green dry amendments.

  2. 73 deg seems a little cool,78 deg - 82 deg is better:)

  3. 73 is fine....IMO.......

Looks like a watering issue to me......either too much or not enough.

  4. The plant in the front row left side had 5gals of water flushed through it a couple days ago.

I will try to be more aware of pot weight when watering
