Need Advice On T12 Flouro Grow First Time Growing

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by jrtuckluck13, May 27, 2013.

  1. I started a grow in my room in a Dresser Gowbox I made. As of now seedlings are doing fine.
I have an idea on how to get a serious harvest from only one plant, but I'm not 100% sure it'll work.
My space is ABOUT 24"x12"x18" so my idea is this:

From seedling, I would start with two 24" 6500K T12 Fluorescent tubes (1120 lumens each), an keep the plant in veg for a while on an 18/6 cycle, keeping the lights a bit too high causing the plant to stretch. FIM plant so new nodes form, and essentially train it as in the attached picture. The difference I would make is I would weave half the new tops horizontally to a fence behind them, causing them to stretch more. The process would be repeated until the fence was filled with plant growth with flowerable nodes sticking out the entire height and length of the plant.

After the fence had been filled, I would switch to four 2700K T12 tubes placed vertically, parallel to the flat plant, and inches from the nodes that would form colas. The light cycle would then be switched to 12/12 to flower the plant.

I feel like this could work well because, as the plant is essentially flat, I wouldn't need the penetration of an HPS and Fluoro tubes would be ideal, especially because of space/stealth requirements. I know T5's would be better and I plan to get them eventually, but I need more money. Just wanted some input

the plants are very adaptable and will grow under the strangest of light and space conditions.. no reason why your layout won't work.. just need attention to detail early on to get the plant trained as needed..
With a pure indoor grow I'd go 24 on for veg cycle as the only reason to run any dark during veg is to time match for moving plants to outside to prevent early flowering.. choose your own veg light cycle as you see fit.. just my 2 cents..
You can find similar layouts under Vscrog.. or vertical screen of green.. a google search should find both..
