I plan to move to California soon so that I can relieve my suffering without having to pay $400/oz. I was wondering, once legal, if the following setup would cause suspicion with any electric companies or anything like that as I am extremely afraid of federal prosecution. Flowering Room: 150 watt Sun System HPS Circulation Fan Clone/Mother Room: ~100 watt of CFL I want to have maybe two mothers for variety and then take clones from those and flower one week by week so I can have a consistent supply of medicine. So, would the consistent 12/12 and 18/6 schedule plus ~300 watts of light put me at risk or should I be able to grow without paranoia? Are there any precautions I can take to rid myself of exposure?
goin to cali better go bigger then a 150w atleast A 400w prefer 600 is even better mine as welll make the move worth it u can grow some weed witha 150 but a tree with a 4 or 6 best of luck stone
So, the electricity companies can't see that I have lights running 12/12 and 18/6? Than how is it that people will get caught using too much light? And if it's this simple, how are people getting caught growing other than letting too many people know? Further opinions are very welcomed.
As long as your payin your bill and not using an extreme amount of power you should be good. Just don't tell anyone and everything will be fine. Watch them neighbors too!
idk if you heard, but the obama administration made a pretty groundbreaking move in preventing federal authorities from persecuting medical patients for both possession AND cultivation -- if you don't believe me, read the following: "In late February, President Obama signaled a new approach. His attorney general, Eric Holder, confirmed at a press conference that he would no longer subject individuals who were complying with state medical marijuana laws to federal drug raids and prosecutions." That's from How marijuana became legal - Sep. 11, 2009, aka CNN. Check it out yourself if you don't believe me. As long as you have a medical card, and make sure to comply by local growing laws (some allow 6 mature plants, others up to a 10x10 plot w/ indefinite # plants), you're cool beans
Electrical companies dont bother people who pay there bills. They only report problems when they think the electricity is being stolen. They are more than happy to keep quite as long as you pay your bill on time.
I'm not sure if all LEO's are going to follow because of personal belief. What is stopping them from just turning my case over to the feds? I'm sure they would love to still take any marijuana cases they can get their hands on. Thank you for answering, I always thought this since they are making money off of me for it :]
I would say you have almost no risk of getting caught because of the wattage you use. I would say that even if you used a 400 watt you would be at pretty much zero risk. People get caught from that when they start using 2000+ watts
Well, I can't guarantee anything. I have a few friends who grow with similar wattage (and, of course, proper legal documentation), and none of them have ever had any problems. I guess I'd just say don't think they're so out to get you -- they've got much bigger things to worry about than busting someone for growing. TBH, I haven't heard of any growers getting busted by feds for a few years where I live (Monterey Bay). It's good to be cautious, though. Play it safe, don't tell people you're growing, and all should be well.
I've always been cautious/paranoid, I believe as long as it doesn't become a problem it can help tremendously. But this is all very relieving. Are there any legitimate ways of finding people, preferably elderly and ill, to become a caregiver for? I've heard there are requirements for being a caregiver other than just growing their marijuana and I need to find out what kind of stuff that is?
the only way you will get found out is if you are using thousands of watts and the feds wont get involved unless you are producing at minimum a few dozen pounds a year. but dont break local laws to stay safe.
They sell this device at Home Depot (and other places im sure) called a Kill-a-Watt EZ. You just input some numbers from your electric bill into the machine and it will tell you the exact amount of watts the device is using, and how much that device will cost you to run it by the hour, day, week, month, and year. All you do is plug it into the wall then plug your device into it. You can really see where you money goes and you can see if your electric bill and this device give the same numbers. Of course you can figure it all out by hand but for 24.99 this thing is the shit. Ive plugged it into everything in my house i can think of and holy shit some of the numbers are crazy. Your vaccum, computer, toaster, and washer and dryer are absolute killers. Those little space heaters are INSANE suckin up 1494 watts on the highest setting and 742 watts on the lowest. Pick one up and see for yourself. Its a great deal for 25 bucks.
lol, 150 watt = less then my kitchen light and CFL's @ 100w is less then my hair dryer? i guess im not understanding your question or if I am and that little of electricity is bothering you that much, it is prolly better that you dont grow at all...I really dont think you have much to worry about in terms of the Feds, dont think you can grow too much with only 250w in a whole system, i dont think thats enough to grow and flower anything really.
yep I think with that setup you have lil if nothing to worry about. Main thing is to keep quiet about who you tell, no need to tell anyone really, though it can be tempting to brag on good results. Cept us of course.
Im pretty sure the only way feds get involved is 100 or more plants. Cause there is a Federal Mandatory Minimum Sentance for grows with 100+ plants. Im sure there are exceptions, but overall your grow is small potatoes to them.
