Need advice about making cannaoil with slow cooker

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by j0sho, Jul 4, 2017.

  1. Hello friends,
I am making some cannabis infused olive oil using my slow cooker.
Every guide I've read has said to put it on low temp for 3 hours, then let cool for 7 hours, repeating this a few times.
My slow cooker takes 2 hours before its at the point of bubbling slightly, considering this should I put it on for longer?
    Thanks :)

  2. I believe the best way to infuse your oil is to decarb @ 240F for 40 minutes. Then combine with oil in the crockpot and cook for several (2) hours. Coconut oil is superior to olive oil for an infused oil, but olive oil will work. I've never seen any guides that suggest your method, but, I don't know everything about making oil. The decarb step is necessary. Remember, there will still be a lot of goodies left in the cannabis mash when you're finished. Save the cannabis until you have a bunch and make another batch of oil, or use as a base for a new batch. In any case, ENJOY, mate! Happy Fourth!

  3. Hey Joker, yep I decarbed. Wow so you only put it on for 2 hours in the crock pot and its done? Do you have it on low? Also, the methods I've read say to discard the weed after it has been cooked into the oil, so you think I should keep it and reuse it?

    @j0sho

    The basic ratio is
5 grams of hash-kief (dry ice method with a 160 micron screen)
    2.5 teaspoons of oil
    .5 teaspoon lecithin..
Decarb material 240F for 40 minutes
Blend decarbed material with oil and heat 220 F for 20 minutes..
Makes 30 (0) capsules.. Average of 25 drops of hot hash oil per cap
    [IMG]
    Some Dry Ice hash
    [IMG]
    Decarb 240 F for 40 minutes
    [IMG]
A little avocado oil for flavor and it extends the high a bit longer I feel..
Back in the toaster oven for 20 minutes at 220 F
    [IMG]
The Coffee mug heater keeps the hash-oil sludge hot enough to draw up the eye dropper
    [IMG]
Caution.. Start with a single drop of this stuff and add more at 2 hour intervals until your off..
DO NOT LICK THE TOOLS OR THE DISHES !!!
Dosing is problematic as no two people react the same.. A single drop can overwhelm my wife but I need 100x that much.. 4 full caps at a time 3 times a day for my personal relief..
Spins and dry heaves are more then possible at this strength so do take some care until you find your personal happy zone..
Happy Tripping.. It IS a psychoactive drug after all..

Identical direction for working in bud.
    Rough grind
    Decarb
Oil and bud mixed and heat 220 F for 20 minutes
    Freeze
    Reheat
    Done
    ==============================
I don't strain the hash from my oil. When I work in bud for a much weaker oil for my wife I do strain the bud with a garlic press and discard as there is nothing left worth messing with. But I grow and have it to waste so do as you please with the spent material. Do NOT try and smoke it as cooking oil and lungs don't works so well. Read on Lipid Pneumonia.

  5. J0sho, there are probably as many methods of preparing canna oil as there are folks on the forum. Two hours in the crock pot is all I would do. I'd start on high and once it got hot turn to it low, or keep warm. I believe there is still significant cannabinoids left in the mash. I end up with pucks of cannabis where I've strained through cheesecloth and then squeezed in a potato ricer. I save these up and when I have three or four use them for a batch of mild butter, or as a base for another batch. Actually, since I have learned how to cook with tinctures and concentrates I don't mess with making butter from buds anymore. You have the ability to concentrate your cannabis more efficiently when making a tincture and then doing a solvent transfer to oil. Good luck, enjoy!
