  1. BF54EB1E-E8D1-471C-A72B-EA83475737BB.jpeg i had problems with a large amount of fungus gnats on my last grow during mid flowering
I tried every solution available on every thread like Gnatrol spray, yellow stickies, hydrogen peroxide.. you name it I did it
So this grow I decided to take every step towards avoiding then, I got big tubs of damprid, a bigger and smaller fan running and also have very little watered my plants since they are autos and in there final pots so no need for a heap of water.
I’m now in day 15 and bam there’s gnats on my stickies alresdy! And have caught a few in my soil.
I physically don’t know what else I can do as I’ve tried everything that everyone suggests on these threads and not one thing wiped them out
Does anyone have a 100% solution to tackle these little pricks before they take over my grow yet again?

  2. i grow in organic soil, i only grow autos currently although no difference really between autos and photos when it comes to pests.
Have had a few gnat problems. found a few things that helped. sounds like you tried most but what i've found was:
i knew many growers will disagree and i understand why, but get rid of mulch if you have any. I know the benefits of it but it keeps the top layer of soil moist which is a prime breeding grounds for them. i get rid of gnats, add much, the gnats come back. i get rid of the mulch i get rid of the gnats. happens everytime

if possible water from underneath rather than the top and keep the top layer of soil dry

    BT bits can help

    obviously yellow strips/cards

need oil spray!!! make it as part of your regular IPM and spray weekly.
you have to kill the lifecycle. even if you kill all the adults and think you are free they appear a few days later from the remaining eggs / larvae and you start all over. you need to kill the adults and keep the sprays going for a few more days without fail to make sure you completely eradicate the eggs.

can even try topdressing your soil with a light sprinkle of neem meal

oh, and if you grow live plants there is never a 100% solution. soil is more prevalent but even when I grew in hydro i got a few now and than.

hope some of this helps a bit.
good luck, they can be a plain in know, but in the scheme of things, they are annoying but generally harmless. i'd rather deal with gnats than whiteflies or aphids or thrips

  3. Put sharp sand on top of the soil, honestly works. Prevents the babies from flying out and adults going back in the soil.

  4. Gnatrol is not sprayed like you indicated - that could be the problem - you have to kill the larvae in the soil and spraying isn't going to do it.
Yellow stickies for the adult flyers and 3-4 drenches of the soil with Gnatrol. It works every time for me.

    Good luck.

  6. I also try to get some fly paper and mouse trap sticky cards to place around the plants.

  7. Mosquito dunks, benefecial nematodes. Predatory mites ssy bye bye gnats

  8. an inch or 2 of perlite on top of the soil helps alot
