Anybody here see a Pain Management physician? I'll give you a little background info on my problem: I've had some severe upper back pain(right around my shoulder blades) for about 3 years this November. I have a primary care physician but every time I have an appointment, I go and talk with my doctor about the severe and persistant pain and for about a year I've recieved no help. I'm pretty sure I would need to be refered to a Pain Management doctor whom I'm sure will have pity on me and believe that I'm in pain and not just looking for a quick fix. What should I do? Am I able to ask to be refered to a PM doctor? need help asap as i am tired of the pain. I used to just buy pain meds on the street due to a doctor not giving two shits, but I now cannot afford it at $1/mg. Thank you much GC.
I completely understand what you are going through. I have been having back and neck pain for years due to a couple of car wrecks. At the time, I thought the pain would just go away but it didn't. I have been wanting to go to a doctor and also get a MRI done so I can find out what is wrong with me. I just know that something is wrong. There is not one day that goes by that I am not in pain.
What I don't understand is why it's so hard for a doctor to just write me a script. He's the one getting paid in all this.
The doctors don't want to write scripts because they have to be really careful about writing scripts for stuff like percocets, xanax, or adderall. They know people are abusing the drugs or are just getting them to sell. They also know that the addiction potential for some of these drugs is high. It drives me crazy that some people can go to the doctor and get almost anything they want when they don't really need it but if someone is actually hurt the doctors want to give them tylenol 3 or some bullshit.
true, but theres a lot of people out there trying to get scripts. i wish i could get prescribed, sometimes at work i feel like i cant even function right because im in so much pain. im pretty sure its from a jetski accident i had awhile back. upper and lower back pains, kinda feels like its in a vice grip and needles are gettin stabbed into it i cant see a doc either because i currently do not have health insurance
I don't have health insurance either. It sucks. I can't go to that thread. When I click on the link it says something about I am not allowed to view it!
I got ya bro, i'll shoot ya a PM when I find the info Dunno about where you live, but in my neck of the woods is... Go around and ask all you friends and family who is a good pain mang. Im sure if you do any opiates you know a few people you could ask! And just go shop around... Its not dr shopping unless you goto different dr's in the same month to acquire the same meds.. But just goto the Dr and be HONEST.. If you have prescribed anything good make sure you take in the bottle or better yet if you've had the MRI and all that dumbshit done before take it all in so they wont make you go though it again. If not been prescribed then tell the dr that you've been prescribed 80's or wtf ever you take and know works for you... Just tell him you've been buying em because the pain is sooo bad and your doc is being a bitch.. They work for you.. rememeber that.. if you have good insurance then go for it! Fuck buying any meds.. haha i get about anything by being cleancut and all that jazz and talking to the dr on a real level.
have you tried exercising and mainly toning every muscle in your body? did you get an actual diagnosis?
Are you sure its not just from the opiates you are on? Ironically opiates cause us users a lot of pain because we expunge every last natural endorphine from our bodies. There is nothing left to help us with our day-to-day aches and pains.
Well if need be I like a few doctors in Lancaster and Columbus(ohio) I've had a diagnosis, but I recently moved and was never able to get my old medical files(I had folders worth). Will I need to get another MRI? It is for a spinal problem.
Honestly I dunno about the MRI.. I am sure the dr will want to run you though all kinda tests but just be honest and tell them You really dont wanna go though all that shit again but most of the times they will make u before they give you anything worth a damn.. so just get a feel for the DR.. and any old bottles of pain pills or anything. take with you.. so that proves that another dr has gave you them and you are used to taking em etc.
Dilaudid fiend ay.... hmmm I wonder why on earth the doctor wont prescribe you narcotics. If your a young guy (18-30) then getting opiates is difficult, cuz doctors just have a hard time believing a young guy can't bounce back from an accident, or not ask for other alternatives such as physical therapy, and not just say "hey doc, my back hurts all the time everyday...................................." Let's see, if I were a doctor, that sounds like "hey doc, I have chronic pain, so I need a high dose long acting drug, how bout oxycontin" I'm not saying I don't believe you, but look at it from the docs point of view. Also if doctors give out too many scripts of opiates and shit the DEA will get on there ass and they can lose their license.
it annoys me. Whats the trouble in over diagnosing? because theres certainly a huge trend of underdiagnosing. who the hell is anyone hurting by being high on what they're prescribed, as long as they're responsible
