Need a new video card?

Discussion in 'Silicon (v)Alley' started by Immeco, Dec 1, 2011.

  1. So lately I've been getting into PC gaming, and I'd like the right hardware. I've checked dozens of games on "Can You Run It" and the only thing I was missing on all of them was a new video card. Right now I have a Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset. So, I'd need one better than that, obviously.

My objective is to be able to play most games on a high/medium setting. Nothing super crazy. I'm tired of having to look at shitty textures...

Also, how hard is it to replace a video card? I'd rather not destroy my computer.

So, suggestions? Take into account that I know pretty much nothing about computers, much less the shit inside of a computer, so a little hand holding is appreciated.

  2. get two HD 5870's and run them in crossfire, you'll be able to play anything with max settings

  3. Make sure you have enough power supply to stabilize the GFX card(s) before purchasing it.

It's pretty easy to remove a graphics card. Go on youtube and search for a how to video.

  4. Yea this is a huge thing to consider, each one of those video cards (5870's) has the potential to draw 300 watts each.
