Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Macmac123, Dec 9, 2018.

  1. So I cut and let my plants dry for 6 days.
I then put it into jars and opened every day for four days for about 20mins. Today I get up and they are much moister then the previous days.and unfortunately it has a real weird smell like hay almost.i now have the jars open and the buds airing out.

    How did his happen.
I had really good citrus smelling buds yesterday and now shitty smell.

The potency has not been affected so far

Any help is greatly appreciated IMG_20181204_110843.jpg IMG_20181207_170129.jpg

  4. Maybe you need to dry them a little and let the moisture go? In any case, you need to get rid of it, otherwise your plant may rot and everything will be in vain. Please write what you were doing and what happened. I think it will be useful for everyone to know for the future. Thank you.

  5. Do you have hygrometer in jars?

Continue the cure following these guidelines..

If the buds feel wet, leave outside the jar for 12-24 hours.

If the buds feel moist, leave jars open with lids off for 2-4 hours.

If the buds feel sticky, like a nice bud should but maybe a tiny bit more spongy. Not moist or wet.. this is the cure zone.. only open jars every 2-4 days do not open too much or the gassing process will take longer and may leave that hay smell.

This can take 2 weeks to 2 months depending on the strain, density, how you grew it, what your tastes are, if you're out and need to dip into it...

If it gets too dry get some humidipacks..

  7. It is suggested to get hygrometers, I believe the one recommended is the caliber 2.. I personally dont use them.

  8. It takes a minimum of 4 weeks to get a decent cure.
The "hay" smell is chlorophyll and it will be gone when the bud is properly cured.
Keep the jars open during the day and close them at night.
Do this until the dryness of the buds has stabilized.
Usually takes about 5 days or so.
After that close the lids and burp them for 15 minutes a day checking to make sure they aren't rehydrating again.
After 10 days of that you should be good to leave them closed in the dark for another 2 weeks or longer. Put Boveda packs in the jars for longer term storage.
After 4 to 8 weeks of cure the hay smell will be gone. Your ganja will smell like ganja.

  9. I usually wait till the stem will make a crack when bent, before I jar mine, depending on ambient humidity levels about 12 days for my picky ass, then rather than burp the jars I empty them onto paper to sit for an hour, then back in the jar. I do this every 4 days, four times, then every 12 days, four times.
An old timer taught me this.
