Celtics fan here-- just wanted to report on a rumor going around Boston and Phx - its all over the radio right now. Talent wise this seems pretty even- although id say the celtics are getting the better end of the deal. HOWEVER this scares ! I dont really like it at all! Rondo Jumpshot must be rly aggrevating Ainge, and his value is no doubt at an all time high--- I dont see this trade happeneing but it definetly means the C's will be shopping around this summer also Im one of Rondos biggest fans so id hate to see him leave- but In the NBA you trade an elite pg for an elite bigman--unless its chris paul I can see the celts flippin amare for some picks-- because what are you gonna do with Perk/Amare/KG put KG at the 3??? thatd be kinda cool-- Tom Tibb could definetly pull off some crazy zone with those 3-- add Paul Peirce and Marbury as your other two starters... But Serisouly Woooow im flabbergasted right now
would i ever do this as a celtics gm, no, as a suns gm, yes rondo emerged into one of the best points in the league and they gunna trade him and there best 3 shooter in Ray Allen for a good talent in barbosa, but also a power foward who has been hurt the last couple years. idk it just doesnt seem right. i know they wanna phase out kg cuz his best years r behind him. i was a lil iffy about it wen amare said hed love to play in ny, cuz im not so sure id want him
yeah im not a big amare fan-- but his injurry is nothing to be concerned about- he will wear goggles for the rest of his career he said. his injury was with his eye. i dont like it for the C's either, but it seems like Ainge knows something we dont--- (KG's knee) This is something Red has done in the past- when you have an aging team you dont blow it up, but you put yourself in position to keep winning for the future.
shit allen's getting old and so is KG(the guy stoudamire would replace)and barbosa is pretty good its basically rondo for amare, i think id do that but really its not that simple with the team celtics got now their poised to win another ship next year i guess they gotta decide if they wanna think future or right now
not a great trade for either team really, i doubt the suns will trade amare. however, if amare ends up in boston...kg playing with amare would be a dirty combo to watch. seriously don't think this will happen though. i would give up rondo and ray allen for amare in a second.
kg is 33. also its not like barbosa is some scrub, he can easily put up 20+...he was sixth man of the year not too long ago, and amare has so much more value than rondo or allen.
value wise this trade works-- especially considering Suns want to rebuild (Rondo), and dont want amare to walk without getting anything in return. the question is do the celtics take a risk and mess with their chemistry- because with a healthy KG the celtics are clear cut favorites to win it all next year.. Maybe LA too
really? well damn this shit should be no brainer for the celtics KG got how many years in the league? but im not seeing any of this shit mention on rome, around the horn, or PTI so im wonder how legit this is
nash is old as hell, he can skool rondo(nash seems like cool dude) they can share time, 2 great PG's is not a bad thing
yeah nash is at the point in his career where he can't play extensive minutes in games, so they would either use nash to bring rondo's skill level up while sharing time or possibly trade nash for something else....i like this trade WAY more for the celtics than i do for the suns.
This rumor doesn't make sense to me unless the Suns don't feel they can come to terms with Steve Nash and want to trade him later. Steve and the Suns organization have both said they want to get a deal done, with the Suns adding in they'd like it if he played till he retired there.
I don't like the move for Boston, but I think it would be a great deal for Phoenix. Rondo is the perfect PG if they plan on continuing to play as fast as possible. Who gives a shit if he can't shoot? He can take anyone off the dribble, and he's in the same league as Parker and Paul on the break. Perfect for Phoenix's system. Barbosa is a solid player, but he won't be able to replace Rondo. After all, Phoenix has been trying to play him at PG for years now without success. When does Amare's contract expire? Next year? Could Boston be positioning itself to go after a big-time free agent at the end of next year?
they gotta resign stoudamire, thats KG's replacement KG been in the league so long he dont have more then 2 good years left amare is 26 he got alteast 5 or 6 great years left if the celtics sign a big deal and that would be great sign imo
I hate hearing this, and I hope its bullshit only because I've always loved ray allen and I think rondo's jumpshot will only get better. I dont like the deal for either team.. even though stoudemire is a pretty dominant player.
I heard this too, but I didn't really think they were serious That's weird because I kind of thought they were trying to establish an identity with "the big three" And what am I going to do with my Ray Allen jersey if this happens?
