N00b here, why one plant is frosting and the other is not?

  1. Howdy fellows growers :)
I would like to rely on your advice and expertise for the following question:

2 automatic strains are growing (see photos below) and they both have average flowering time, but the frosting on the Kush is much more advanced and started earlier than on the Skunk, despite the skunk is at least 10 days older than the Kush.

    • Purple Skunk (Auto) link
Is it normal and how close are to harvest? I see no swollen yet
(Started from seeds in April, but here was quite cold spring)

Of course, I am open also to other suggestions, thanks :)

  2. no two plants are the same unless they are clones. genetics and other variables play a part in trichome production the amount of or lack there of. have to look at the trichomes under a microscope or jewelers loop in order to see when to harvest. normally i start looking at trichomes after the pistols have darkened and curled in.

  3. So far, the kush has curly "barbs" with brown colour increasing, while the skunk has for now just white barbs and less frosting, the triconoms on the skunk look smaller, more empty while on the kush are more full and are getting from transparent to more white.

  4. Grobuddy is very right! It's 2 different strains and both have different timings! One is 7-9weeks other is 8. But it still could be a 2 week difference between.
I'm very stoned to maths is gone!
If you take the skunk will take 9weeks and the kush just 7 then 24 days difference with the 10 day head start? Idk?!

Best to get a cheep scope to look at the frost to see when it turns from clear to cloudy, only way to know when to harvest!

  5. I second that
Only thing, pistils is valid if maturation of pistils didnt start till mid-late flower.

i had fully mature pistils curl and turn brown mid way through and couldn’t judge off pistils anymore

  6. why one plant is frosting and the other is not?= closer to the light

  7. Pot is often rotated in order to give light to all plants :)
