Mystery Bird

  1. Hey guys I have a bird that I need some help identifying. I'm very new to birds, so I'm learning all the ones that are around my area. Anyway, I've attached a few pics...my guess right now is Song Sparrow. There are quite a few in my backyard right now

I can't see it well enough on my phone but if I had to guess id wager it being a brown thrasher.

If it is a brown thrasher they eat well. White meat.

  3. It's got a similar pattern on its breast but the head is much different

    I'm in Kentucky btw

  4. It's not a brown thrasher... The beak is too short... thrashers have long curved beaks... looks like a song sparrow to me

  5. A little chicken nugget with wings, huh? :p

I would guess some sort of sparrow. It looks a bit like the house sparrows we have up here. Soon it will be time for them to hang out in hedges and have big chirpy bird orgies - the little guys are positively shameless! :D

  6. Thanks for the input boys. Found a dead baby (great horned?) owl in front of my house today. It was in really good shape, I guess he got hit by a car :(

    Here are some pics
