The thing I find most mystical and amusing about psychedelics is that looking back at my life, I feel I can really understand how psychedelics bring about changes for the better in people. \tAnyone or almost anyone can take some opiate and get a temporary mental relief. And that's not to say opiates aren't good for treating people who have physical conditions. But in terms of recreational drug use, it is only the class of drugs within the psychedelic range that cause such an abnormal and fascinating mental thought process in everyone. \tOne thing pretty common about tripping is the individual seems to either love it or hate it. I feel that this is because psychedelics create an 'experience' which make it necessary for the tripp...er? to focus on his inner being rather than external concerns like work, money, school, family, even religion (this list could potentially be endless). If the person can't focus in on themselves and analyze their situation in a purposeful way, they just get caught up in their external concerns and will generally have a 'bad' trip. When he is able to release his physical connections to the world and enjoy his subconscious , is when it seems a person most enjoys tripping, or even getting high on bud (THC is indeed a mild psychedelic). \tI think it is the people who refuse to open their minds to their own strongly held beliefs (I.E people with a strict religious mentality) who tend to dislike psychedelics. The psychedelic message seems to be one of open mindedness. Thus people who are heavily rooted to their systems of conformism seem to not understand them. It is all this big mental uproot on psychedelics putting us temporarily in a new, intense, yet somehow already familiarized world that is so oddly different from the one we live in. \tIn my psychedelic world I can be ridiculously happy, or ridiculously scared, but I always will learn something about myself. It makes me think so much harder about who I am as a person it's not even funny... but it can be the funniest thing in the world too. When I like who I am it it can be marvelous. But when I am picking at myself it can be horrendous. \tThat to me is the real magic behind psychedelics... finding out what makes you feel right. It is just so interesting that it seems to inspire in me and others a tendency to better the 'spiritual' nature of western society, and it's customs. Thanks for reading.
Great, I often feel the same way. If everyone in the world took a psychedelic substance at least once in their life time and attain the realizations that we few do, the world would be a much more open and knowledgeable place.
I agree. I feel there are many experiences and situations that we can seek out or that just come about in which we can achieve the same internal connections we do on psychedelics. They are just one of the many entrances into our own minds.
