So I have a plant I started from a seed I got in a bag. It looked like a very healthy seed and the smoke was pretty good. I threw it in some fox farm ocean forest and it broke soil on march 8th. I've heard people say they don't start seeds in fox farm because its too strong but I have not experienced any yellowing of leaves at all. But instead I have very droopy leaves and what seems to me like slow growth for a plant that sprouted 18 days ago (correct me if I'm wrong). Or I could just b paranoid seeing as I'm really hoping this survives til flowering. Also to note, I have been watering once a day. This is because it seems like hours after I water the pot is very light again and the soil on top is bone dry. Productive smoking is key to your enjoyment of the herb
Well what type of lighting system do u got going and what's ur watering Schedule like ? To further know what's the issue .
Cfl lights about a couple inches away 24 hours. When its nicer itll go to 18/6 for a week then outside Productive smoking is key to your enjoyment of the herb
you need to give it more water. unless your humidity is like 20% it shouldn't be drying out that fast. also Fox Farm soil being too hot for seedlings is a myth. i've run at least 25+ different strains from seed in the stuff and never had a problem.
Its a jiffy pot. I'm assuming though that its made from compressed peat.. causing pH issue perhaps? Productive smoking is key to your enjoyment of the herb
Maybe the pot is absorbing some of the water? Productive smoking is key to your enjoyment of the herb
I put my cfls about 3 to 4 inches away and burnt the crap out of my seedling. Might be heat stress. I was using one 42w cfl per plant
In my opinion peat pots suck. Transfer to a small regular pot before you try to plant the peat pot in soil. One time I started in those and I had a harder time with the roots trying to get out the peat pot and slowing down the growth. One of those pots just killed my rosemary bush I just bought from home depot and I keep on wishing I took it off before I transferred. CFL's no problem but the drooping is most likely from overwatering in that peat. Wal-mart has seed starter kits with domes and everything that work better for less than $5.
yup.. they are known for that. i'd get it out of that jiffy pot and in a fresh pot with new soil.. that plant will perk back up quick. at this point i'd go with the final pot.. like a 3 or 5 gal or whatever fits your space.
So I'm sure the pest pot has made the soil its in too acidic. Whats the best way to transplant into fresh soil? Productive smoking is key to your enjoyment of the herb
i'd just tear that peat pot right off.. have a pot of soil ready about 3/4 way full. place the root ball in the new pot and cover w/ dirt. water it well, and you'll be good in a couple days.
I took your advice and I'm glad I did. She turned around Productive smoking is key to your enjoyment of the herb
i dont like to start seedlings in fox farm soil, next time try something with without so many nutrients in the soil
What has starting seeds in nutrient rich soil done wrong for you?.. It works textbook for me and I have less transfers.
burned my seedlings almost every time i tried it, now i just start my seeds in old used potting mix and then when i transplant i put it into foxfarm soil
If you are unsure that you are over or under watering I find it useful to fill a matching container without any plants. Then go by weight. I leave that extra container empty and then pick up the ones with plants. When the plants start to weigh about the same as the empty one I water. Took me a long time to get It and in flower I now cheat and use a SIP.
Mabey you yourself caused that problem I two sprout from FFOF I have 4 seedlings now on their 5th nodes without a single sign of stress..... Why Throw a extra transfer in the mix when you can avoid it
