My Seedling is dying *PICS*

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by bigtree, Jan 23, 2008.

  1. This is my seedling I've been watering only with plain water. The type of soil is promix and for lighting is just one 42 watt fluro. The first true leaves are dying and the next set is doing the same . i need help[IMG]

  2. wish i could tell you what would make it perfect again, but all i can tell you is what i would do. i would cut the rockwool off of it and i would transplant it into the soil (make sure the soil does not have time release ferts. and give it plenty of water. hopefully it would bounce back, thats what i would do. i personally dont like rockwool... im probably the only one, but i dont use it at all for anything

  3. trim the dead leaves off then put more soil in right over the rockwool & then water.
wait for 3 days then water again but inbetween watering mist it 2 or 3 times a day(ONLY!...),also put your light right on top of it around 2 inches above;) (also have you got holes for water to drain out bottom?)

notice the edges of cup, the soil is away from edge letting air down inside cup where roots will be ,roots dont like air or light hitting them. so when you see that just rub your finger around edges to fill it in;)

    are you feeding nutes?
    if so stop now!...........

its ok mate just a little tlc and it'll bounce back no probs:D

    all the best:smoking:

i haven't really changed anything because I'm not sure whats wrong, if its a deficiency. this picture is like 3 days old but its pretty much the same only a little bigger but the leaves see to be going the same path.

  5. 3 things.

    Trim the dead.

    Add a little more soil.

Do you have holes in that cup?

  6. yes i do have holes at the bottom but maybe not that big.

  7. Ok. Don't have the light too close 2-3", and make sure your not drowning your plants. Soil should be dry when re-watering

Add a little soil and give it a day or 2

  8. you might want to consider putting that in something bigger. i would guess the bottom of that cup is full of roots.

  9. just a little update i just fed a weak liquid seaweed solution. Advice needed

  10. cut the dead leaves. dont cut too close to the stem otherwise it will only cause more problems.

  11. Me thinks it's the soil.

  12. the soil i got is Pro Mix its supposed to be pretty good no added nutes

  13. dude, you need more medium!!! you're in a coffee cup??

  14. I did a little LST, and transplanted to a little bigger pot.

  15. ROFL

Mother nature will get revenge on you for this.

  16. Well something is fert burning it.

  17. ya i was gonna say fert burn.. make sure the plant is in a well ventilated place cuz it almost looks like its cooked. gotta keep the temps down in your growbox

  18. Probably getting root bound. That is a mighty small container for a plant that size. Plants should be transplanted from the seedling "cup" when it gets it first or second set of fan leaves. You will be surprised how many roots that plant has.
