  1. So here's what I was thinking about while taking a shower...

What if there was no afterlife? And by that I mean, what if instead of dying and then just chillin' in heaven or hell for the rest of forever, you just kept becoming someone else? Like if you've ever seen the movie "Down to Earth" with Chris Rock, you might kind of understand what I'm saying.

Like, what if you died at the tender old age of 80, and suddenly, you ceased to exist, but rather your soul was passed on to another living human. So the next baby being born would be you, but only in the sense that it has your soul, rather than it having your mind and your memories. You would have absolutely no recollection of your previous live(s), but occasionally some feelings of deja vu.

And I suppose the same thing could happen with dogs, or any other animal for that matter, but there wouldn't be any cross-species mixing, like a human wouldn't end up with a dog's soul.

    And that's my entire shower...

  2. Yeh, that'd be kinda like hell though. I like to think there's something more then eternal rebirth as a human.

  3. Yeah I agree with hs, i'd rather get it done in one go then do the whole life thing over and over again.

whats up evan you haven't posted in a while

    peace-

  4. I have to agree with hotsauce, i really hope it doesnt happen like this - it could be like a hell.

What do you mean by your soul pass onto another being tho ? Do you mean what we know? Or the lessons learned from a previous life?

  5. Hmmm... honestly, if I couldn't even remember what happened in a past life, would it really matter where my "soul" ended up?

Who knows man, it might happen... it's at least as equally possible as any other explanation of what happens after death.

  6. I haven't posted in a while b/c I really haven't smoked in a while. But I'll keep posting.

You know how you have one of those thoughts in your mind that makes sense to you, but is next to impossible to explain? That's what I'm having right now.

Opivy: I suppose that it means the essence of you, what makes you different from a robot or something like that, your proverbial "soul" would be passed on, and like I said, you couldn't just recall memories like "in my past life, I was a trucker" or something like that, but you would still have all the experiences.

  7. If not memories, what makes us the same person? And if we cant remember anything what do you mean have all the experience?

If i was reborn would I still know how to drive a car? Or would i have to re-learn? If i was the same person why would i have to re-learn it? Since no one is born and knows how to drive (or do anything that they might have done in a past life) right off that bat, what makes this person the same?

  8. reincarnation?

the only way it could be is if new souls are created.

it just wouldnt work having souls passed down because of the growing number of humans on the planet

  9. yea i sort of agree with that, unless there is just a big pool of unused souls somewhere.

i think reincarnation would be sort of cool, but i more believe you are born, you live, and you die. my opinion will probably change as i get ever older, but for now, im more of a pessimist.

  10. You have the same consciousness you had in your past life.

Like if you just woke up one day and you were a different person with completely different memories.

I don't know kind of hard to explain.

  11. different person with different memories? Sounds like your not the same person anymore..

  12. i believe after you die you go into a dream like state which you cannot ever awake from.

  13. Reincarnation? There is no such thing. It is an idea created by intelligent humans because we want to live forever, but we don't. One life, one body and that's it.

Once it ends, our body breaks down and becomes part of Earth. Without our body, our consciousness will not exist. We simply go out of existence.

Looking on the bright side, at least we have a chance to exist right now. Make the best of it. Live it the way you want to. Smoke on....:smoke:

  14. Your view is another idea created by intelligent, realistic, humans.

However there is just as little possible way to prove what you are saying as there is to prove reincarnation exists.

Opivy, you have consciousness like, you experience things through the eyes of another and you and you exist in that consciousness but you don't have memories from another life. It's to hard to explain typing.

  15. some buddhist teachings talk about this... Some people belive that "you" dont really exist or have a soul, and your ego is just an illision, but still you get reincarnated untill you reach enlightenment or something like that... i porbably didnt explian well becuase i dont fully understand it, but its pretty interesting to read about it, especially when stoned.

  16. The spark of conciousness lies in a seperate dimension. One infinitely flexible that connects it to our physical self. A theory physics gurus, and university professors are currently trying to prove. Physical death, yes. Cyclic reincarnation, maybe. The end of the line, no. Still, human life is a precious commodity, found once, and on rare occasion. We should appreciate this wonderfull and horrible priviledge and take full advantage of it.

I believe you speak of the burning circle. Picture a wheel wreathed in flame, with eight spokes, and three gems. The wheel symbolizes beings that are blinded by the physical world. Doomed to rebirth in different situations and places throughout time until they discover the one, true way. As long as they harbour greed, dilusion, and aversion, they will repeat themselves, and never reach the higher purpose. The spokes symbolize the noble eightfold path, and the gems represent the categories they're split into.

    Wisdom:
    -Right view
    -Right intention
    Ethical conduct:
    -Right speech
    -Right action
    -Right livelihood
    Mental Development:
    -Right effort
    -Right mindfullness
    -Right concentration

The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend a personal God and avoid dogmas and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs, it would be Buddhism.
