My pH down is making the pH drastically go up??!! [emoji23]

  1. Is there a shelf life on opened pH up/down? My general hydroponics pH down is actually causing the pH to rise drastically in my solution. I did a test with just a cup of water and a few drops and I shit you not the pH down made the pH go up like 2 points. Obviously tossing the bottle, but has anyone else encountered this?

    Thanks

  2. Possibly mislabeled bottle, some lemon just does the trick.

  4. Update: my pH reader has gone bad somehow... sometime after changing the solution out and still getting a high reading I finally decided to use the pH test tube and drops, which gave me a low 5.0-high 4's number.

  6. If you are using general hydroponics ph kit and the bottle has orange liquid then it ph down if its blue its up. Hopefully mislabeled is all it is.

  7. Citric acid is a PH down and can be bought locally at hardware store .

  8. It could just be your pH meter change the battery and calibrate it do it once a month

  9. Dang. I was just about to suggest that and look smart. I had a meter go bad too

  10. If you decide to calibrate your meter, make sure to use distilled or RO water! The first time I calibrated I wasn't thinking and used tap water. Had a few days of weird readings before I realized the mistake
