My PC growbox..

    It's a little bit tight in there but this will be my first time evergrowing and i have tons of shitty seeds to practice on.. I saw this idea in a magazine actually and I just happend to have a lot of extra shit lying around including a HID bulb from one of my cars so I went to work.. for the hid power, I used a computer supply source.. worked fine.. I'm still trying to figure out how to take a pic with the HID on... its SOOOOOO fuckign bright.. lights up my entire room when the case is open.. camera wont take pic since its so bright? for the lining, I bought some high temp foil tape from hope depot and basically covered any and everything.. seeds are int he process of germinating, will keep u guys posted.. 2 fans.. one intake from te front and exhausr in the rear. lmk what u guys think.. how much could i possible grow in there would u guys estimate? i most likely will be using the LST method with a long recangular pot. thanks! :)

    ok so i moved the ballast to the outside of the case to make more room and figured out how to take a pic with the HID on... its VERY bright.. lights up my entire room literally. 25 views no comments?!?!?:wave:

    looks cool, dunno what results will be liek tho, never seen one in action, btw what lights u using?? cos i dotn think hid will work
    only Fl and HPs and some LED lights of a certian colour
    i could be wrogn im still a growing noob

    i read that you could use hid somewhere.. its a 7 or 8000k hid bulb.. will let u know if it works or not :)

    maybe you should try 12/12 from seed since the space is so small

    It is a little space, so you won't get a lot out of it.
    The HID bulb will be hot too, I'd think. Even with vent fans, it will probably still harm the plants.

    What you might try, is incorporating the computer tower into a desk or cabinet. Cut a hole in the side of the desk or cabinet slightly smaller than the open side of the tower. Seal the open side of the box against the opening, then use the interior space in the cabinet or desk as your grow space.

    That would let you still use the parts of the tower to run the lights and fans... but let you get the plants far enough away from the bulb that they don't die.

    That's ok for the plants... your PC might start overheating though. Is that temp just with the light on, or does that include the PC being on and in use?

    Are you guys serious? How the FUCK would you grow plants in a working computer? Also, I think that light is the WRONG spectrum for growing.... well I am sure you have the blue light covered.

    hey anonzymuz, i was sorta inspired by this and today i gutted out an old computer to use the power supply..but i couldn't figure it out, how did you do this? I think it just might not even be on...is there a way to manually turn it on? how did you figure out what you were gonna do, do you have anything you could link me to? thanks a lot man,

    lol why would you do that? the buds would form and cause stress on the stems. im doing the same thing. i hollowed out this mac and i use LST and veg'ed it for about three and a half weeks after they were germinated.

    Only a few more weeks hopefully. Need to do some modifications and then away we go! :smoking:
