hi GC, i have completed my pc box , which is were ill start my babies until i switch em to my groww cab, okay heres the problem: i was originally running two 120mm fans in there , with 4 bulbs so it was to hot so i took away one bulb to see, still to hot, so i added another fan, 80mm that u can see in the pic is right above my exhaust fan. the three bulbs i am running so far are two 19w cfls, 5000k because i cant find any 6500k in stores anywere , sposed to be equvilent to 75 watts each, and i have one 27 or 32 w cfl 2700k i feel like i dont have enough lighting? but the temps still run high. when i take my front cover of my pc off which is were my inlet fan is, the stemp stays at about 82-83. ALSO I WAS THINKIN OF ANOTHER REASON IT COULD BE TO HOT, WELL I BOUT THIS REFLECTIVE INSULATION STUFF AT LOWES. IT HAS LIKE LITTLE BUBBLE CIRCLES IN IT IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT? WELL I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE THOUHT THAT IT WAS PROVIDING TO MUCH INSULATION, MY REAL MYLAR WHICH IS ABOUT 2MM THICK CAME IN THE MAIL THE OTHER DAY, BUT THE OTHER REFLECTIVE INSULATION I HAVE INSIDE IS ABOUT A QTR INCH THINK ... SHOULD I JUST RIP AL OF THE REFLECTIVE INSULATION OUT AND REDUE IT WITH ALL MYLAR? AND WHAT EXACT TEMPS AM I LOOKIN OR? MAX? MIN? PERFECT? CANY ANYONE HELP!
Just out of curiosity , does it really worth it ? How much can one get in such tiny space 3-5 grams? P.S.Nice box by the way .
Well im not lettin it go full size in here. Just sproutin an veggin for a lil bit. Check out my thread in design setup . Thats were theyll be transferred to
It just looks like there is no airflow. I see the fan in the front, but when you show the PC from the front, where is that front fan pulling air from? Below that piece blocking it? If your PC has a poor ventilation design you might just have to buy some stronger fans to muscle it through. Can you feel it sucking air through sufficiently with your hand? From the intake.
Im glad u saw wat i mean. Were my intake fan is . Is covered by the front pc cover case but has a hold like in the bottom. When i took the front case off were it was covering my intake fan the temp dropped to 83 . An 32 % humidity. Should i like put another fan directly on top of my exhaust fans that are the exact.same size so it increases the sucking power? Im stuck
Hmm this is tough, because I can't really see much room where the air can come in. Where are the intake vents? It doesn't even look like you have enough air coming in for passive intake. Only thing to do is try and increase that exhaust, or need to somehow figure out a way to let more in for intake. Bad case for a pc grow. Might have to do some self modification.
I'm a newbie here but not to growing! So take my advice for what its worth to you. If you are just using this to start your little baby's you may want to re-think your light layout. The reason I say that is you want those lights as close as 3" away from your seedlings so they don't stretch and your nodes become miles apart making a topheavy plant with a weak stem. As far as heat goes I would stick with th 5k bulbs(if not able to get 65k). They cover more of the light spectrum that you will need for veg. The 2700 k bulbs usally gives off more heat than the 5k. Also is that foil and mylar? If so ditch the foil for flat white paint, foil reflects more heat than light. Also maybe take the intake fan away and make another hole for an exaust and use it their. The intake hole will be less restrictive
Sexy grow box you got there. I especially like the mylar inside and the lighting, along with the fans. I have a question, that big 4 inch fan on the back of the PC tower is an exhaust fan right? The 5000k bulb is fine. I've used a 200 watt 5000k for veg and the plants loved it. It does suck ass for flower though I had to see! Anyway, sweet box dude
Wheres you journal again diesel? Can you link it? Yeah the 5ks work fine, thats what I use, you'll never find the exact one you want unless you order online. And your lights are fine, Id suggest trying to fit as many as you can up there along the top once you get your temp situation dialed in. Just move you plants closer to the lights when theyre small, mine sit on spare pots/glad containers. Whats the underside of your PC look like? Wheres the biggest possible intake hole? (besides the back exhaust obviously)
so those other 2 fans are for exhaust? If so, good, then all you need is more air holes. Just that one 4inch fan should create enough negative pressure to pull in any air that surrounds the PC tower. So go make some more holes
If I was you, i would switch to LED lighting. it puts off alot less heat, and would be more efficient for a box like that. i know about the negatives about led (plants do better with a full spectrum) but i think the pros would outweigh the cons at this point
