My old RX-7 (56k beware)

Discussion in 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' started by SkunkWoodz, Jan 22, 2010.

  1. Man I wish I still had this vehicular dream machine. Sold it after I got a DUI 5 years ago to pay for the court fees an shit. I am a die hard Rotarhead. Plan on getting another 7 as soon as I sell my suv I got right now. And if any of you are wondering my name is a play on words meaning the rotary engine is super fun, making you say weeeeee, say it with me now rotaweeeeeee

    Mods:
    HKS F-con piggy back computer
    Homemade 3" turbo inlet duct
    Cone air filter
    ported throttle body
    ported intake manifolds
    ported wastegate and turbine runners
Greddy (actually TRUST, jdm yo!) front mount intercooler, with my ghetto ass piping
    Accel wires
homemade manual boost controller ~ 10psi (stock 5.5) my how to on rx7club.com
    [/U]]Writeup: How to make a manual boost controller (56k maybe) - RX7Club.com
3" turbo back, catless, dual (which is stock) exhaust with magnaflow mufflers (sounded sooooo fucking good for a rotary:hello:)
removed emissions (not really a benefit, just easy to work on)
my nicest wheels were bronze 5zigen FNO1R-c; 17x8 front, 17x9 rear
those were wrapped in Falken FK452; 235/45 front, 265/40 rear
foolishly I traded them for a slightly crashed NA MR-2

Sooo basically not a whole lot done to it. Had less than a grand in mods, as I made alot of them myself. But damn did it run like a bat outta hell.
    Fastest time was 13.6 @ 105mph
Ran it in the snake-river SCCA autocross also. only got 4 races under my belt so didn't really get a points standing
Now time for the pics, enjoy

  2. She's a beauty, Cars from the 90's on a whole are much better than the technical tour de France they make nowadays.

Cars back then were man's cars. You could get a thorough feel for them, you got to know them, their capabilities and their weakness'.

Cars are so computerized nowadays it takes the fun out of working on them for fear that you will mess up the computer or some other gizmo.

    I think i'll be a 90s guy till I die.

  3. lol it's an 87. but yeah I took the power steering off in favor of a manual steering rack. That was honestly one of the better mods done to it, so damn responsive, felt like it read my mind. took the AC off cuz it took up too much room and weighed alot (lol not really i'm just a crackpot)

    edit- THANKS!! for the compliment

  4. Nice FC. I'm a rotorhead as well, I'm on alot at RX7Club.com. I have an FB that is primarily just an autocross toy now. I wouldn't have bothered to put up an RX7 on any site other than RX7Club though, all you get is retards coming in here saying how bad rotaries are.

  5. youre livin one of my dreams man.

    ive always wanted a FC.

  6. I love rotaries I plan to pick up a second gen rex after I finish up my GTI

  7. Great car, in great condition. I want to own a 2nd gen one day. I bet that drives like a beast.

    One Love,

  8. Thanks guys

  9. nice fc i got an 86 gxl my self and i love it and im hopefully swapping a turbo II motor in it next winter but for now im still na but the car is still a blast to drive! Rotary for life

  10. Very nice car. I can't wait until I have enough money to afford a project car. I love working on cars as a hobby, but the past two cars I've had spent more time broken than not, and I got kind of burnt out on it. But I'm going to start saving soon, hopefully.

  11. very clean looking. we don't have many nice cars from the 80's or beyond here in maine. there was a very nice rx7 somewhere in the area, but i haven't seen it in a year or so.

  12. man I always loved the RX-7's, hood scoop is classy too ;)

  13. Awesome rx-7! I always loved the fn01c and they really set your car off.

I also have an original GReddy Trust intercooler on my mr2. yaaaah:wave:

You're such a f-in rotary nerd dude. Can't say that I blame you though, they are pretty badass. You're first FC was vey nice btw. A buddy of mine swears today that a fc t2 is still the best car you can get for the money...err and uh performance needs for a track. I say fuck it, give me 4 tires and steering wheel and I'll get post some times:D.

  18. Psh, I'd KILL for an FD. Wouldn't say no to a nice FC like the op's either
