Hi folks! This is my first system, it has been running for 1 week. (check pic.) I am a newbee, and have thousand's of Q's. First I'll tell u about the system. I have a 4 by 2 (meters) grov room. I have build a Hydrotank, 80 cm wide, 300 cm deep and 30 cm high. Filled up to about half with water (330 litre) and 16 airstones. An aquapump, pumping water out to the drip system. A crosswood plate on top with 16 holes. Each hole is 12 cm with 35 cm space (with light) for for each hole/pot. Space between pots and water is 7 cm. I use 15 cm pots, with clay marbles. (the rootball contains soil, changed the method, from soil to hydroponic in week 4. On top I have 3 grow lights (600w, 400w 400w) I have 150 cm top bottom light in the growroom. I started with 20 seeds, unknown, some of them are blueberry, don't know the rest. I got 18 sprouts, 1 died in a week, 1 was faulty on leafs. I have 16 left, one however is very tiny. As you can see on pic, they are now rooting out of the pot, comming downwards to the water 7 cm below. The system (light and nutrients is GROW) I have som Q's about the gardening technique: When the males are taken away, I am sure I will have many empty holes, therfore I think it is best to take the top, and let the remaining plants grow more widely. I would deeply appreciate comment's on the whole system, and in particular the topping. When should I take clones. Is it to early to set it in blooming, should I wait until clones are done? I need 16 perfect female clones, recon only 4 plants will be nice and female, would it be clever to take 4 clones of every plant, (64 clones), and then set it to blooming, and further discard any male clone, that shuld give at least 16 nice clones, if only 4 plants comes out as nice females? Have you did any research on growing methods? You should look into LST (low stress training). Simply put...you pull the plant's arms down and tie them. It looks like it would be your best bet seeing that you haven't sexed yet. I do not put a plant from seed on a 12/12 photoperiod until I see alternating nodes. That is just me. You can switch the cycle now. It may be a while until they begin to bloom though. Looks like you are off to a good start.
The plants are looking nice. Why are the lights so high up? Might help to put them a little closer, that is a big gap. Looking forward to seeing more.
XBrad420: "Have you did any research on growing methods?" Yes alot! I have seen the LST. Do you mean that they stretch slower then? What do you mean by alternating nodes? Thank you for your comments Somguye: Thankyou, I just love sitting down and watch them plants I have done alot of adjustments with a lux sensor, the all have about 25-30 000 lux, at top of plant. Should I still lower the lights? More pic's are comming soon! Best regards NoRGroW
Hi folks, thank's for the feedback. Here is some more pic's; I choosed to take klones (a bit early!) but I had cloning hormone. The plant is now set for 12/12. I have about 100 klones now. I am aiming for 16 perfect klones of the best plant. I have my own kloning room, a bit cool and 24/0 light. I will put both a perfect male (if I get one) and a choosen -or several, of female in the same room as the Clones! Do you thing that works? Look at the roots, it has just been 4 days, and the roots has really grown out! I have some problems with the humidity, outside temp is below 0 celcius, and outside humidity is very low. In order to keep the temp down (and smell away) in grow room, I have to run air fan, taking in outside air. This takes down humidity. 30% I have to be carefull with the fans on leaves, they seems to dry out! I am really on emty budget, and are trying to wet some hand towels it works for some hours, hopefully that will help, now that I am only running 12/0 light. Also, one of the top in the first plant fell down today. Towards the light, maybe it is doing that on purpouse, the leaves did'nt fell down. I turned over the plant 180 deg. and trained the top over 90 deg. I will check that plant first thing in the morning. The PH was 6.3, the resovar it probably running low on nutriens. The EC sensor has not arrived yet, and I don't dare to add nutrients before I know the EC. This makes me nervous I hope the early klones survives, and it seems that I have to invest in an air humidifier. Best regards NowGrow
Hi folks! The top of the first plant came back up, the next morning, my theory, is that the pressure in the stem went down when I cut of the clonings, 4 on each plant. Another theory is that the humidity was to low 30%, and the fans dried it out! (only, there was no sign on the leaves) Anyway, I will bye an air humidifier on friday! I will also bye one more air pump, due to low pressure in the far side of the pump. Out of 20 seeds, I now have 16 plants, 14 plants are looking great, one a litle bit tiny, and the last, totaly tiny! 4 plants are tall and 10 are lower but dense and very green Some of the clones are falling down. I took them a bit early I think. They get sprayed twice a day, and get 24/0 light. Today I got my EC measurment. I will tap off about 100 litres, and use it to the next grow. Then I will fill up the hydrotank, and put some more nutrients (bloom) in the tank. I will put some more pic's online tonight. Best regards NoRGroW
Green fingers This mornig, the PH was way below, 5,2 lowest reading! Defined PH should be between 5,8 - 6,2! The EC was 3,1. Tap water is 0,1, that makes true EC 3.0. The water level had dropped dramatlcly. I have defined 2,5 EC max (true EC). My babies are thirsty! I tok a roughly calculation, I found that ca 100 litres should balance it back. I added 100 litres. The pump needs 16 hours to circulate 330 litres (ca 87 gallon) I am waiting, checking in between, watching TV and reporting here on the net Four of them looking like "sativa/Indica cross, with an extra pint of sativa" has gone like 5-10 cm! In just one and a half day!! Im am impressed!
Green fingers Some more pic's. Today I snoke in the roots Visit my blogg for more detailed growlog. http://forum.grasscity.com/blogs/norgrow/ Enjoy!
