My method of a Single Serving Canna-Oil w/ Pics

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by purplehazeguy, Aug 28, 2012.

  1. Hey blades!

its purple here and its been a while but I've been somewhat altering a single serving recipe I've seen on here a while ago. Shout outs to the OP, ill find it later and put it on here ;)

I pretty much use this stuff call vegetable ghee (gee) I took a picture of the label so you guys can see its actually 100g of fat for 100g of ghee :hello:

I pretty much made a small batch this time only using 1tbsp of ghee to 1 gram of kush. I used a toaster oven and had it in my garage at 325 for about 3 hours.

Lastly I strain through a coffee filter and tea strainer for any impurities and I consume either right away or put it in the fridge for later use. It hardens up and is the same color and texture as canna butter after a couple hours of being in the fridge.

    Enjoy The pics!

  2. The final product looks yellow kinda because of the sun, but I ensure you its green, and once you use this method you may never go back to oil or butter! :p

  3. i actually wanna try this....
can you find that "ghee" anywhere??? like any sobeys or grocery store??

  4. Usually found in Asian Supermarkets ! :smoke: I found mine at some Chinese super store near my house

  5. ahh hahaha fuck there aint many asian supermarkets around here.... well.. ive never heard of or seen one before....
fuck lol ill probly be able to find some i guess

  6. Pro tip, ghee is just clarified butter if you guys can't find it under the name ghee hahahah

Or in ops case clarified veggie oil

  7. You could make your own clarified butter, but the chances of burning it are very high, Id rather buy it hahaha :p

Oh I mean, I've never seen ghee in the super markets here, I know the asian markets have it but for those who don't have asian markets you can find just clarified butter in stores haha its not marketed as ghee to us americans.

I would never make clarified butter when I can buy that shit

  9. Cool idea, I love the ghee idea, 100% fat would be great for extractions.

It's good to see that you have an interest in edible cannabis, and you're definitely on the right track by using ghee, rather than unclarified store-bought butter! :smoke:

But just remember that THC has a flashpoint of 300.2 F... trying to infuse in oil at higher temps than this causes your potency, not only to degrade, become vapor and dissipate resulting in a partial to substantial loss of potency, but it also causes those particular cannabinoids to FIGHT against the infusion resulting in a secondary loss via poor bioavailability!
Rather than a bioavailable infusion with proper bonding between the fat and THC, what you're left with for the most part, are free-floating cannabinoids in oil, and some infused CBD/CBN and other higher-flashpoint cannabinoids... which means that, other cannabinoids aside, your THC is only slightly more bioavailable than eating simply activated herb, without any oil infusion at all.

And yes, ghee is just probiotic (ie. usually living/bacterial) clarified butter, which is super easy to make! :yay:

In fact, most clarified butter is less burned than ghee, where in order to make ghee you usually brown the solids a bit before removal and heat for a bit longer.

With clarified butter, normally you remove the solids as they froth to the surface then strain those that fall below, it takes only 15 - 20 minutes to remove the milk solids and water content. Ghee is usually heated for several hours (real ghee takes days to make), and allows the solids to sink, and brown, before their removal. :)

Vegetable ghee is usually not as effective as real ghee, where it is often low in saturated fat and it's often entirely void of the medium-chain triglycerides which aid in the rapid and reliable absorption of cannabis glandular material.

But if you're fortunate enough to find specifically a coconut or palm kernel based vegetable ghee, on the other hand, you're golden! :D

Hope this helps.. good luck, and have fun!

  11. Gotta spread around some rep before I rep ya again but thanks, that was a helpful post!

  12. sounds like a sick idea, im going to try it tomorrow :)

    hows the taste?

  13. I have a ton if clarified butter in my fridge, all I do is out a tsp of butter and a gram of weed in a oven on 300?

  14. Thanks Badkitty! Your input is always valued :D

As far as taste goes I just mixed it with some pasta sauce and ate it with spaghetti, I used a dash of olive oil and could hardly taste it ! Regardless tho an hour later I was too high to move :p Maybe next time Ill use half as much so I can still function haha!
