My mates buds are black - normal or diseased?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by 420cowboy, Jul 18, 2019.

  1. Chatting to a friend who is on her first grow and she took some pictures to see if her plant was ready and the buds are black......good or bad?? She has asked elsewhere but no one seems to know.

  7. Pictures are too blurry - but dark can be from any number of things - it could just be a very dark strain - it could be mold, it could be death in the bud ... need better pics or you can break it up and look at it hard for mold - if no mold smoke it and see ....

  9. images def not doctored. She can barely take a picture let alone edit it! :)
The plant looks really small but healthy and no sign of darkness with the naked eye. It dies have a slight purple hue near the buds and smaller(sugar) leaves. I will ask her to cut one open and see.
The strain is Mango, or Mango Kush and were bag seeds.
Some more close ups if that helps. 20190715_1702_001_42.857.jpg View attachment 2648467

  10. That definitely looks like systemic bud rot to me...but I have only ever had it happen once, many years ago. Curious to see what the more experienced growers reckon...
