So yesterday I spilt water on my macbook pro and for the rest of the day it worked fine. I wiped off all the water and everything and I thought it was fine but I charged it over night and in the morning it wouldn't turn on. Fuckk I payed $1,300 for this and I'm pissed. How much would it cost to fix it? Could I fix it myself?
Itll probably cost about $1,300.... You can try taking it to the mac store. I had an '06 that was pretty fucked up, and they fixed it all for a flat rate around $300, even without a warranty. Good deal for macs, but I dont think water damage is covered
Sadly, you're probably boned. You should have turned it off immediately let the water drain out and dried it with a hair dryer. If you have Apple Care you may be able to get it repaired, but typically water damage isn't covered.
Yeah, sounds like that might be quite expensive. Because if its not turning on that means, its a power supply problem. Which can result into a HDD problem. But I'd take it to a local Comp. shop and see what they have to say! Or take it down to a 'Apple store' but there going to be a bit pricey. Good luck,
I'm thinking of calling apple and telling them it just won't turn on and not mention the water part. Read online how people have done this and apple fixes it for free. I'm just so pissed I spent my savings on this thing but I didn't have enough to buy the insurance warranty thing.
And to think. You could have bought a windows laptop with the same power or more, with warranty, and a nice bookbag to go with it...
I clicked on this thread knowing there'd be Mac haters ... But anyway OP I would NOT take it to the Apple store, but rather a computer place around you that has Apple certified technicians as they'll be much cheaper. If you send your laptop into Apple they'll obviously be able to tell you've split shit on it, and instead of repairing it for free you'll have to pay 4x what it'd cost you to have it repaired locally + at least a week of shipping.
Whatever you do don't tell them you spilled water on it or else they won't fix it. Just go with your plan of telling them it won't turn on and you don't know why.

So I put it under the fan at around 9 and I just got back from class five minutes ago and it turned on and works again fine. I'm so happy so I rewarded myself with a bowl
Also you have up to one year after purchase to purcahse Apple Care - I highly recommend it - it covers your machine for 3 years after purchase. If you are still within the 1 year of purchase you are still covered too
Ouch. If you are still under any sort of Apple warranty, take it in and play dumb. They may detect the water damage and refuse to fix it, or you may sneak it by. A lot of factors, but the odds are slim that you'll sneak it by. Still, this is your only chance at a free fix. For future reference, immediately shut it down. Dry every bit of water you can possibly access, corner of a Kleenex in between the keyboard and everything. Then put it somewhere safe, cool, and dry. FORGET ABOUT IT FOR A FUCKING WEEK. Water will take a very long time to evaporate out of all the nooks, crannies, and crevices.
