My Late LST 400hps Cupboard grow

  1. Hey GC this is my 1st grow ever....

I was given a seedling in April & I had no clue how to cultivate at this point, I just wanted a windowsill grow but as she grew & grew for 5 months! I knew wanted more than a nights toke so I managed to grab 45w led panel and she loved it, I then went a brought a 400 HPS and created a nice clean area for my lady to live.....she didn't have good side branch structure but a fellow GC helped me by suggesting I LST light stress techniques as a good woman likes to be bent over she blossomed pre-flowers on 18:6 ...........18 days ago I put her into flower....

Here are some pix of my 1st no thrills grow all I use is fresh bottled water or 3 day old tap water, tomato food 1/4 strength during veg once a week, twice a week during flowering, & John innes soil. I keep her close to 82f/25c as possible using just one 20'' fan at the moment

Here she is on day 18 of 12/12

  2. Cheers mate, my other thread shows her before I LST'd her....that was my saviour, I had poor side branches but as soon as I stressed her like a true female she loved it!

Update on my grow, well mummy's babies came alive tonight after a few anxious weeks!!!

I planted my clones (just 2) 20 days ago into soil with a 45w LED Panel on them 24/7 I found the left one had a massive root sticking out just now after misting the dome every 3 days or so & just making sure the soil was nice & moist!

  3. Moved little miss perky out of the LED Room into my 400w HPS Room to dry her alittle for the repotting in the morning!

    Welcome to the family !!!

  4. Sweet!!! You planning on holding her in veg awhile longer?

  5. Yeah a good month I'd say wanna get her big n juicy! I might try topping this one!!!

So pleased to get a clone outta Eileen! the other 1 is in the dome under the LED I think she'll be fine too, exactly the same routine! 45 degree cut, but of a scrape n a tiny incision through the stem, in a glass of disitilled water for 30 mins & some hardware store natural cloning gel! Misted her every couple of days & finally BINGO!!!

  6. Love it when a plan comes together!!! Considering the growth characteristics of the mom, I'd definitely recommend topping & leaf pruning during early veg., looks like she's ready. As soon as you transplant, give her a few days to perk up, then follow this formula for better side branching & multiple top colas:

Starting at the bottom of the plant find the first set of opposing leaves, this is node # 1. Leave these alone. Go up to the next set of opposing leaves / node 2, and clip one leaf off. Go to the 3rd node, rotate clockwise (or counter-clockwise for the southern hemisphere, or if you're left handed) and clip one leaf. Go to the 4th node, rotate same direction, clip one leaf.Go to the 5th node, rotate same direction, clip one leaf. This should be completed by the time the 6th node is opening, which you want to leave untouched.

As the 7th node begins to open right on top of the 6th node, clip the shoot. It will be small, try not to damage the 6th node's junction where the leaf stems meet the main trunk because magic happens here. In a few days, you should get two main shoots where originally there was one.

In addition to the 7th node making two main shoots, the leaf pruning at nodes 2-5 should encourage good side branching at each node. Sometimes one on each side, sometimes only one side, but you should get better side branching.
Depending upon how tall she gets before you switch to veg, you can repeat this procedure on each new main trunk as they grow. Now two top branches becomes four, and the side branching of each new main trunk should take off to make additional major bud sites.
By the way, this is the ONLY time I ever leaf prune. After that, let those little sugar pumps do their job driving growth for your baby.

Combine this topping / training with the LST technique you learned from Eileen, and you can grow a bush with all kinds of top colas. Do this with two to four plants under your new 400W, and you'll be amazed at the buds you will get:smoke::D

There's lots of variations to this - you can FIM instead of topping the 7th node. This is where you cut most of the new shoot (FIM = fuck-I-missed) but leave a little behind. With a little luck you can get three or four new top branches. Worst case two, OK, that's good too.
OR you can super-crop at the nodes - this involves crushing the main stem at an upper node, but not the top. A little scary the first time, but it works. The top will wilt, but after a week to 10 days you can get an explosion of new top growth. 4, 5, even more is not unheard of.
Me, I like the good old fashioned topping technique described above. But it's a ton of fun experimenting and finding what your strain likes best. With clones from the same parent, you get a very good side-by-side to tell you what's best for your plant.

Glad to see how well things are for you, be checking back soon!!!

  7. hi missevo, looking very nice! you must have some greenness in those thumbs. ordinarily i believe in the saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." i see quite a bit of tip burn, which isn't a huge problem, but it is your plants telling you you're feeding a couple hundred ppm too hot. everything else looks great on your plant. nice color in the leaves. maybe a tad too much nitrogen, for flowering. if you did nothing, you'd be fine! but i.m.o., i'd feed only once a week at any stage of growing, and cut back 25%. meaning, (for instance) if you're feeding one table spoon per gallon, on your first weekly feed, and one tablespoon per gallon on your second weekly feed, i'd feed one and a half tablespoons total per week. hope that makes sense, i'm a bit high, lol.....

olde school, i've never heard of trimming the way you explain. sounds pretty complicated. but again, high, lol....

  8. Thanks growbot, yep I see...I'm just gently experimenting and she seems to like her nutes once a week instead of less nutes more often!

Well OS I follow ya, but as she is still so small & delicate I didn't wanna shock her that much yet so I just took off one side branch above the 3rd node and then FIM'd her....it should be called FIMOP fuck I missed on purpose!

I think this is an exciting technique as I have no clue as to what's gonna happen but that garden twine sure is helpful!!!

Hope ya all had a chilled weekend GC Peeps & Peepettes! Missevo

Hey G.C folk! Hope everyones enjoying there evening toke

Well OS i woke up this morning to a beaming baby with the node split lovely in 18 hours! The FIM looks the same but sure its just adapting....i took off another couple of branches off tonight as i want to prune as you say as early as possible.....im gunna post some pix.

i think i did yesterdays work correctly, but tonight who knows as this is all new to me...my 1st clone attempt, rooted nicely...my 1st plant (eileen dover) 3 weeks flowering with lovely buds......what more could i ask for....bit of beginners luck but also without G.C i wouldnt be where iam!

please do not hesitate to point out if i have done this 'topping' incorrect.

    cheers amigo's!

  11. LOL, yeah, it makes more sense when you're either (a)not attitude-adjusted, or (b) you're smoking the same stuff I was when I wrote it :D.
In simpler terms, cut one opposing leaf off at the 2nd through 5th nodes, rotating from side to side to keep her in balance, then top at the 7th node. It really gets the side branches going, even on sativa dominant strains that want to be a beanstalk.
Missevo, you can count on what Growbot says, never seen anything but good advice there!!!

  12. Looking good, I believe I could see the new side branching already forming. They should really start taking off in the next few days, including the FIMOP (which really got me going, love it!!!!:D).
I like to space the leaf pruning out over several days as well, usually start at node # 2 when the 5th node is beginning to open, then wait for node 6 to open before pruning node 3. When I top I usually clip node 4 & done. It doesn't have to be precise, I just never remove more than 1 or 2 nodes at a time & it seems to work great for me.

  13. Damn, makes me want to get out that big floppy woven hat with the fake dreadlocks & dance around the yard. But I better save that for a full moon, huh?
Looks like an old Bob Marley strain I saw years ago!!!!

  14. Really!?????? What dya mean, does it really look like a strain you have come across before coz id do anything to identify it

As for me....i just ignore all the good advice, tips and lifesaving help on G.C from good members like yourself and just do the Juana-dance to the Bud Gods every night....Seems to be working so far :devious::eek:|

    :hello::hello::smoke::hello::hello:

  15. Gonna be next to impossible to identify; the long silky hairs reminded me of an old Rastafarian strain I saw in an online seed bank pic somewhere. Said it was a favorite of the late great Bob Marley, but that was a Big Bud derivative. If you don't know what it is, you get to name it. A few of my old school favorites non-names:
Arkansas Polio Weed (Indica that made you walk like little Forrest Gump)
Ceremonial Aztec sex weed (rip-off from some wannabe hippy way long ago)
Frankenstein (I still grow this one - makes you walk like your nuts are loose)

Keep up the good work, life's all about dancing in the rain (wet t-shirts & all )

  16. thought so......but good to know for sure, the buds look alot like the AK 48 but like u say i get to name her....which i did....MISSEVO was her name (Miss as in Mrs Evo evolution as in it was a long ass grow)

then you came along OSkooly, cramed knowledge into my now big head & i think in respect to your help the name Eileen Dover should stand..No BEND and flash her female guns for all to see a 'new' strain to carry on the evolution!!!

Eileen will be happy as my growing days and nights took a new turn in the road as i install my ventilation system (NINJA DIY) and finally finished my grow space. I now have Negative pressure at last, and the whole floor space is now for my girl and her babies.....very very happy.

will post pix, probably very boring to many but uber awesome to me! Hope you like GC

    cheers again Missevo! :hello::D:hello::D:hello:

  17. Great job, nice and clean, well thought out. Should serve you well. Now fill it up!!!!!
Only improvement I can suggest is some lightweight chains and S-hooks to make it easier to lower and raise your light. I could see you easily getting four clones in there for your next go round.
Then you'll expand into the whole room.
Then probably knock out a wall and add an extension on the house.
LOL, we never seem to find something else to want.
    Be seeing ya.

  18. Im such a noob and i f*^king hate that word.....im not sure but i think i found a 'nanner' hiding in a bud that was growing down the twine....so i read up on it and people say this late into harvest just past 4 weeks that its pretty common and can be caused by stress light problems & plant is desperatly trying to self pollinate....

so i thought, it was growing down and not getting anything like the light the main colas are getting....but now I'm not so sure would you kind folk look at my buds and see if you think things are okay...i got rid of that one last night, but spotted more on others lower down the canopy tonight.....now are these resin sacks?? (is that a thing?) ..... is my bud just changing coz they look kinda like small diamond cutters covered in trichs......my concerns are will this affect quality (THC) of the Bud once dried and cured??? My buds are dense and fairly weighty but the fan leaf hasnt really crystallised over yet, other than the top leaves enveloped by the buds, should i expect sticky fan leaves??? will it or does it depend on which strain your smoking/growing.....Iv noticed the bud looks very similar to the AK range, just from pix!

Anyways sorry for the panic, they look gorgeous but i could really do with some feedback on this part of the flowering stage as i have no clue other than to be patient & wait for my hairs to turn 60/70% amber and my trichs to be cloudy with some amber mushroom heads!!!!

-like the doorknob said feed your head!

Thanks you for all your help & support G.C!!! Missevo!
