what do you think about these fans? if you have had experience with this type of fan give me your opinion. I plan on getting two fans, on for each side. from that i plan on using a duct piece to join the two and just use one duct tube to go to the filter and then out the box. http://www.hydroponics.net/i/132503 Now to the little ones. Im posting pics from last night and today. It's amazing how fast they grow. I think they are doing ok but i'm starting to get a little worried. I noticed that the stem veins on the leaf are a little yellowish, just a little. I was wondering if this is normal at this stage of growth or is something starting to go wrong. I hope someone can help me out with this situation before it really becomes a problem(if it is one). I'm almost done with installing the electrical system. i just need to mount the splice box and the plugs. I worked for an electrical contracting company for a couple of months and picked up some useful skills. Im not an electrician by NO Means but i got the concept down. I will have the pics up as soon as i can. Life is busy, thats why i cant wait for this to really take off! peace out and thanks for all the input and views guys. Today's pics.....i don't have my nutes in yet or the HPS but they're growing. I cant wait to see what happens when my shit gets here. Oh, and i know the tinfoil isn't good but again i'm still waiting on things to get to me. I dont want the light to get down their and make algae.
cool cool, yeah go with the bigger fans, more the better. I wouldnt worry 'bout the small yellow veins, just keep an eye on them. They look good so far from what I can see.
all looks good here my friend. i have those inline fans and you will defenatly see an inprovment with them.. keep up the good work a ++++
I finally mounted and wired the computer fans. Here are some pics of how i did it and what it looks like. Im pissed at myself for not thinking things through......my inexperience is showing! i completely forgot about the light being able to go through the fan blades. So now i have two huge holes in the wood that divides my flowering and veg areas. Not an absolute fuck up cause i am going to make some light diffusers out of cardboard and aluminum tape, it's just that now i have to put more work into making it look and work right!!! Im planning on making them as close to the walls as possible and still let in air. Do you think that @ 1 1/2" is will be ok?? we'll see. I mounted one fan blowing in and one blowing out. Im still getting a good exhaust fan and filter in their but i thought this would help circulate the air in the entire unit. If any 1 has any questions or advise on the diffusers please send a message or comment on the thread. take care.
hi ya buddy was on about the the fans at top of thes page. also dont wory about a thing a simple bit of ducting connected to the back of those fans will stop the light coming through also will benifit you as if one fan is sucking in and one fan is blowing out the air will just get reserculated so the old air will just sucked back in, if you hook it up to ducting put the blowing out duct up the wall b.hind the wardrobe (towards ceilling) and other duct on the suck in fan towards the floor you will always be getting fresh air in and old air out. hope this makes sence as im stonded as a mother fucker right now..
I got your drift Sticky. i was thinking the same thing. Send the exhaust air from the veg side to the ceiling in the flowering side so that when i install the filter and high CFM exhaust fan all the hot air will be sucked out first. Then draw the fresh air from the bottom of the flower side into the veg side so that it's cooler. I'm probably going to use cardboard and shape it to run kinda flat along the wall cause i dont want to take up too much room. I know some ducting or pvc elbows would work best but i think it will stick out a lot. Im sure if i use my staple gun and aluminum tape i can come up with some good shit. I also have some of the reflective pieces left over that i will use to mask it into the rest of the wall and keep it looking clean. Clean is important to me! I cant stand seeing half ass boxes. I know it gets the job done but put a little pride into you green, know what i mean? That shit rhymed!LOL take care guys......lol i'm so freakin ! YO STICKY, ARE THE FANS THAT YOU MENTIONED LOUD? HIT ME UP MAN. the dude selling them on ebay said they are louder than hair dryers, is that about right?
Im happy, I finally got my net pots and hydroton rocks in. It took for ever!! I had my seedlings sprout in rockwool and then used aquarium rocks and plastic cups that i made into mesh pot type things?! I know, super duper newb but it worked. I was worried that it was going to stress them out or be difficult to transfer but they did alright. Those hydroton rocks are awesome, they keep the plants nice and planted and the roots nice and dark. Things are looking great and i'm super satisfied. They keep growing too, soon my nutes will be here and i can stop using this garbage ass miracle grow crap!! Im still not decided on the fan and filter but i will soon commit. I love this shit! My new favorite hobby. How do the girls look?
great box...lookin good...whats the brand of that closet?? and where'd u get it?? i was actually on my way to target to pick up this http://www.target.com/Pantry-Promo-Storage-Cabinet-White/dp/B0002I6FHM/sr=1-2/qid=1231039324/ref=sr_1_2/188-5093583-2654339?ie=UTF8&index=target&field-browse=3151061&rh=k%3Astorage%20cabinet&page=1 but the closet setup ur using would fit my needs better...
i think the name brand is sauer or something like that. i can't remember exactly but it looks and sounds familiar. most computer desk that you buy at bestbuy are the same brand. i payed like $110 for it but it was on sale. i think i cost like $130 though. anyway, things are moving right along, they keep growing healthy except for one of the girls that i noticed started getting a little burned. i cut back the nutes and hopefully it works out. i dont have an EC reader yet so i guesstimate. Here are some updated pics. i usually take pics every two to three days. this big one is the thai haze, the other two are CH9's. the haze is growing so much faster!!! i had two but i had to cut one out because i could only fit 3- 6" pots in my setup. the CH9's are feminized so i didn't want to take any chances.
Like i said, i'm planning on updating pics every 2 days. it's crazy how fast they grow and how much the roots grow too.
Well, even though im not getting as much advise or as many views as i'd like, im going to continue my thread just for fun.....and the occasional guest. lol, i''m so lame! anyway, these are the three things im still waiting for in the mail. hopefully they get here soon and i can start seeing better results. the results so far have been satisfying but im sure these items will make them even better. I was wondering if these nutes are ok for hydroponic use? i haven't used tham before and when i ordered it i did not know that their was a difference between soil nutes and hydro nutes. Super newb move but what the fuck. If any 1 knows let me know. peace! input on the lamp and fan would be nice too.
wuts up pride?? im def watchin this grow brow, im puttin together that exact cab....im debating on the type of lights, cfl vs mh/hps......i wanna go the obvious route (mh/hps lol) but in that cab im worried bout heat control. im gonna put an exhaust up top with a DIY carbon scrubber...like u see exactly from this guy here. the sunsystems hps light (if it is hps) is the kind with the ballast enclosed, so its gonna generate more heat i assume and ur gonna have to keep it at a larger distance than ur cfl's...this will be my first grow and it'll be stealth....but i learned a lot from this site...shyt, i learned EVERYTHING from this site lol i cant help ya with those nutes, i CAN tell u that im gonna go with GeneralHydroponics ferts... question bro lol...u say ur using 4" net pots, u think if i used 3.75" i nthe same size tub i could get 4 plants?? Edit: i was lookin at sumthin like this...but i heard it too causes too much heat or around the same heat as a hps....if i do go hps im lookin at 150w for heat sake!! lol
they keep growing but the two feminized ones in the back are turning a little yellowish. Im starting to get a little worried. i don't know what to do! they still look strong but i hope they don't go down hill on me.
Nice to see someone taking time and care, and apparently doing his research. About that woodgrain laminate, perhaps Krylon spray paint, the one made for plastics. Your box is about 5 times the size of mine, good luck. The wealth of info and good people here is amazing, sometimes I feel like young Luke at the feet of Yoda. LOL
hey guys, check out my other thread, i REALLY need some help with this issue before it gets out of hand!! thanks and take care. http://forum.grasscity.com/sick-pla...sh-color-has-me-worried-help.html#post3742985
well, my girls are dieing. they have gotten bigger but the leaves started to turn yellowish and then brown on the edges. i learned it was a nute deficiency because of high ph levels blocking out the absorption. so i took care of the ph levels and added my foxfarm nutes. things were good for a couple of days and no new deterioration but then i looked in the res!!!!!!! my roots that were nice and white are now brown!! i felt the water and i could take a bath in it. im so freaken pissed!!!!! i've read up on res chillers but they are too expensive. im done wasting money on this!!! im just gonna let things take their course and chalk this one up to the experience column and keep truckin. If i cant figure out how to keep my res cool im just going to use soil next time. im feeling real discouraged! FUCKKKKIN SHIT!!!!
Maybe fill a cooler with ice and keep it outside of the room, somehow get a long pole something that wont rust and make it run from inside the cooler, under the door into the bucket of water. Ice isn't too expensive if your lazy, or you could invest in a few ice trays (say 10 or so) and filler up every twodays. I know ice stays good for days in coolers. or.. Get a res outside of your room rotating water in and out of your main bucket with a water pump.. yeah more money but an option at that, and put your girls in seperate buckets.
i was thinking of using a res outside of the light area and use a flood table that will drain out to the res. instead of using DWC. im not sure if im too late though. they look brown and slimy. im currently freezing some water bottles to see if it helps. i dont think ice cubes would last too long considering the ice to water ratio. too much ice is going to be bad too so that's not an option. i think if the frozen water bottle doesn't help i might just use a flood table with hydroton. thanks for the input
