I am at about Day 8-9 of 12/12. How they looking? These things have mushroomed! When I went to 12/12 they were about 8 inches. Now there 12! Starting to smell a little more but I have a Carbon Scrubber and Ona DIY bucket thing to nullify that. Its been a blast growing them. Learned so much and mostly from GC. Read all the stickies asked a ton of questions put it to practice and have had really no issues other then a Gnat issue which I squashed. A word of advice to all you new growers out there rather then post a question seeking to be force fed a answer on here try reading the guides on here. It pays dividends.
Bought Natria Insecticidal Soap. Its made by Bayer and they sell it at Lowes. Its organic and only contains Potassium of Fatty Acids. I did not want something harsh to kill them as that would effect the plant. I soaked the leaves in it and misted the soil..where the larva grow. The stuff that it uses has a half life of one day so no issues on the plants absorbing some crazy chemical.
Sweet, im wondering how they'll affect filtering plants, I'm about five weeks through. I was thinking about letting em do their thing (the gnats), since I don't want to do anything to hurt my harvest and they don't seem to be hurting the plants at all. Any opinions? Ps. I had a bad gnat problem in the begining, I tried several "organic" methods. I thought I had gotten rid of them after a few weeks, but there back now... They just seem to bother you more then the plant. But I've read how the larvae eat the roots and the adults will munch on the plant. I spray them (the plants and pots) with neem oil every other water/feeding. seems to keep the numbers down as I only see a few around.
Thanks!. I used a combo of spray and drying them out. There called Fungus Gnats and they like moist soil. They havent done any harm but just annoying and then I started seeing them elsewhere in my place. So they had to die.
Your grow is looking great...awesome tomatoes too. HAve you tried neem oil in a spray? That seems to knock most stuff out in my room when pests show up. Smells awful, but works.
hey rhapsody, ive been experimenting recently with pest control and i thought i'd let you know that wolf spiders work great for taking care of gnats. they dont eat the plants, and they dont spin web to hunt. i put two medium sized spiders in there about a week ago and now my gnat problem is completely taken care of. just something to consider if you live in an area where wolf spiders roam. got a flowering update?
I will let you know that I will die before I buy or gather a wolf spider. I can barely look at a spider without wanting to scream like a terrified school girl. I think I will stick to sprays. Gnat problem has been solved by them .
How big do u expect them to be at harvest? I agree, especially after a google of Wolf Spiders! I'll get some oil!
This is a old post that somehow got bumped up but there 18 days into flowering developing bud now and are about 19 inches tall. They more they doubled.
haha, i've always liked creepy crawlies, and the wolf spiders around here are pretty docile, but to each his (or her) own. just thought i'd toss my solution to our mutual problem your way, but im glad your sprays are working. -happy growing
Did not feel like LSTing. I did some topping though. I am quite happy how big they are. Any bigger would be annoying. They are slowing down on the growth now but I started flowering at 8 inchs two are 19-20 inches other 2 are 17 to 18. Those are my first grow I was more interested in them surviving.
Nice! So four plants? How many u start with? Do u know the sex? If so how long after u went 12/12 did u learn the sex? Topping how many times? And how long to harvest?
Lol.lots of questions! Started with 4 plants. I am on my second grow as well..3 plants there. They are all fem seeds so pretty certain how they would turn out. Took about 12-14 days for all to show sex during flowering. I topped just once. How long to harvest..when they decide to be ready and not a moment sooner . Thats a hard one to judge. Plants tend to do there own thing.
