  1. i am going to attempt to grow outdoors this year, i really cant do anything but germinate seeds in my house due to parents. i have read that you can just put seeds about a half inch into the ground and in about a week you may see somthin. i have an area where i can grow, it is about 25 feet from a stream, and is up hill, would that be good?? also i need to know what to look for in seeds, i see darker brown seeds, dark green, and light green, i heard that the brown works, not too sure

  2. "If you dont feel safe pinning a $100.00 bill to a tree next to your plants, then you havnt found the right spot"

Any seed that breaks when squeezing in between your thumb and forefinger is no good.
Generally lighter seeds are immature, while darker ones are mature and more likely to sprout.

  3. 1/2" is too deep to plant your seed. A lot of folks germinate the seed between moist paper towels in a covered container until the viable ones sprout and then plant those. I personally have not done this, mainly 'cause I don't feel comfortable handling those delicate sprouts. I just put a seed on the top of a solo cup full of seed starting mix (finely ground peat moss) and press it into the top of the soil maybe 1/4".

    Good luck.

  4. ok thankyou, can i take germinated seeds and just plant them straight into the ground?

  5. Yes you can, as stated above, just make sure they arent buried too deep, but covered by top soil.
