Hey everyone, I'm working on my first ever outdoor grow (or any grow for that matter) this year and I've been pretty excited each step of the way. I germinated in water and put the seedlings in solo cups. I had two plants but one died when i tried to transplant it to a larger pot. The other is this one, is it ready to transplant or can it wait longer? I think I'm two and half weeks or so in since I planted the germinated seed.
It can hang out in that cup another week or so. I would put a skewer in there to tie it to before it tips over though. Good luck man, and welcome to the city.
Yeah I wasn't sure whether it should be tied up or left on its own but thanks. Oh and I forget to mention the strain is just local mids from bagseed. I didn't want to put all the time/effort/money into higher strains until I have some experience. If this plant works out, great, if it doesn't I won't be too worried about it.
Yeah it looks like its stretching quite a bit. Definitely get a stick in there to support it, or atleast burry the stem up to the first node.
Ok so I'm updating with new pictures. Sorry they aren't the best quality, my camera is messed up so these are off of my picture phone. There's a little bit of yellowing on the leaves and these little black things that are almost impossible to see have been crawling around it a bit. Ideas?
Dude transplant that thing and bury the stem, if it gets any bigger its just guna flop over on its own weight.
Alright I will for sure tomorrow, what soil should I get? I don't want to spend a lot of money and what's the best method you've used to transplant? I screwed up another plant by messing up so I really want the best way this time. Thanks.
I nice airy soil mix. How about 50% Peat Moss, 25% Perlite 20% Worm castings, and 5% Dolomite Lime. Should cost right around $15-$20 for everything in the smallest quantities. As for transplanting. Let your soil get somewhat dried, they massage the side and flip it upsidedown, if it doesn't pop right out you can just cut the red cup and then place the rootball in the pot. How did you screw your last plant up by transplanting. Did it look like this one?
I think I did it too early and it wasn't strong enough or developed yet. I messed up when cutting the cup and I stuck it in a pot of soil and it pretty much died after that so I want to be really careful. I live in SC and the soil has a lot of clay content so tomorrow I'm hoping to find a good spot while my parents are at work and get it in a pot and leave it somewhere.
To be 100% real with you right now, I just don't see that plant maturing into good smokable buds. Your 3 weeks in and on your second node with a sickly stem. I suppose you can keep trying...but "get it in a pot and leave it somewhere" doesn't sound like a solid plan to me.
And honestly it's not a big deal to me, it's just something I wanted to try to see if it would work out. If I got anything smokeable at all out of it I'd be happy but otherwise I'm fine too.
