Hello all. I am starting my first grow, got some White Widow Max, Ice and Crystal seeds. Im cracking 5 of each. My room is 16x10. I split it in two with the flower room a bit bigger then the veg room. I plan to have 2 or 3 mothers of each type to take clones from. I have a 24, and I have a 6 plant hydroponics set from Stealth Hydro. I plan to make the 6 plant set into a 12 plant set to accomidate the mothers. I am going to make one more Hydroponic set that i can plug the trays into to flush the plants for the last 2 weeks. I want the setup able to plug and unplug trays into at will. I want to put new plants into the flower room each week or two. So basicaly ill have 3 20gal reservoir acting as 3 seprate systems. one for veg one for flower and one to fulsh with during the last 2 weeks of flowering. In my veg/clone room i have a 250w MH and 6 tube lighting grow lights. Flower room i have 2 1000w HPS. Is this sufficiant lighting for a flower room of 10x10? I have a 8" carbon filter on the outside of the room with the air being blowen to it through a 6" duct. I wanted to be way under the recomadations so i had no smell. I have a 6" duct taking air from outside. I have one 8" 600 cfm fan to push it all. Do you think this will be good enough if i use the sugar and yeast trick to get more c02 if needed? I know this is kinda big for a beginner but I have everything to do it with so why not, eh? Ill take all the help I can get. thanks
i dont think you need the 3rd reservoir for flushing, that just sounds lazy, and 2x1000w Mh for 10x10 room is ample lighting, and 2-3 mothers of each type sounds un-necessary, one mother of each type grown right and looked after will provide you with enough .
you say two 1000 watt MH for flowering..... why are you running MH in flowering? You want HPD in that phase of growth bro. and I agree, one mother per strain... any more is a waste of space and effort.
oops, thats a typo on the lights. Ill fix it in my post. ok so if I only need one mother of each strain i can just use the 6 plant setup i have and put 3 plants in it. that will work great. thanks for the replys
About finding the sex. I have seen people put the whole plant in the flower room for a couple weeks and if its a female they take a clone off the plant and thats there mother. I have also seen where you take a clone from the plant and put it in the flower room after it has roots to determin the sex. What is better in your opinion and why? Also I dont see the problem of getting new mothers from clones. you can grow a clone up to use as a mother right?
either will works just fine but I'd say taking a clone and putting the rooted clone in flowering is better. This is just because you don't end up with your mother (the clone in the other case) starting to flower. It will go back into veg given the right light cycle but takes time to get growing. Using clones as mothers is just fine. Many people will say that over time if clones are cloned and then that clone is cloned, etc etc then the potency will slowly drop after the 12th generation. This isn't something you have to worry about if you are just taking an f2 clone and keeping that as your mother. I would get as far as an F6 generation clone without any noticeable difference.

Well if shes a mom, you'll be topping many times to take cuttings. Just use the tops of the highest branches to keep her low and she'll respond by bushing out making more prime clone candidates
