  1. this is my first grow guys and everything seems to be going well i started off with 10 big bud seeds planted them in peat pots and within 2 days my first 2 broke ground and today day 5 i have all 10. yesterday i transplanted 9 of them to bigger pots really easy thanx to the peat pots just plonked them in and away to go. The reason i did it so early is that i noticed that the peat pots were absorbing the water out of the soil and the lights were then drying the pots out. Anyway today i noticed some of the cotyledons are a darker green and starting to curl under i obveously watered the new soil when transplanting but not the soil within the peat pots thinking that they would absorb the water from the outer soil could this be why perhaps they need a little water or is it normal?? and also one of them has broke ground with no cotyledons just a brown tip. please take a look at the picks and give me your opinion thanx.

  2. Hey man, whats your setup? lights etc? and you might be overwatering a little from the looks of things?

  3. i have 4 25w -125w output 6500k bulbs walls lined with mylar and a fan its quite a confined space in my closet but they will only be in there for a couple of weeks while i get my 8ft x 8ft room sorted in the attic. the temp is averaging 24-25c and the humidity around 50-60% the soil looks wet cos i potted them yesterday i done as told (wet the soil and let it drain for around 30 miutes before potting) my biggest problem is the watering and any advice would be appreciated as this is a common problem with newbies like me and i dont want to kill them im using cooled boiled water at the mo.

  4. Most of them are looking ok, Just let the soil dry out over the next few days, dont use any nutes and see how they progress from there, the second set of leaves are what we need to wait for. As for the plant with the brown tip, id call that one a goner but hey these things happen, I have only done one grow, my current grow so I am by no means a proffesional grower, but thats what I would suggest from what I have read...

  5. just water till some comes out of the bottom of the pot, dont use ferts yet and put a boal of water in your room to get the humidity up to about 75-80

  6. got a bowl of water in there and im averaging 57% would this be increased if i turn my fan off cos ive noticed the temp has dropped from 27c to 23c since i turned it on

  7. UPDATE: 10 days
hi guys these are how my babies are looking now.Im abit worried about the first leaf set cos they are starting to curl under i noticed this first on day six so i checked the soil realised that id left it a little late to water cos the soil was bone dry and watered them just enough so the water was dripping out the drainage holes now on day ten they all seem to be doing it apart from three so i have just checked the soil and it seems to be dry enough for them to be watered again and i intend on doing it later today. Can anyone give me a few pointers on what i seem to be doing wrong or is this normal please help me guys cos i dont want to kill my babies thanx.

  9. Hi Stephen - I had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago - this is my first grow.

I posted and got an immedaite reply - check that there are no fertz or nutes in the soil you're using!

When I checked my bag of compost I realised it had growth nutes in it - doh! The new seedlings can't handle anything in the first few weeks.

If you're using a soil with anything in it, or using any nutes at this stage, don't - change the soil. Carefully re-pot and take of as much of the soil as you can without damaging the roots. I switched to a loam-based compost with nothing in it and they LOVE it; the change was noticable within hours!

    Hope this helps...

  10. i got the soil from the hydro shop its a pre-mix with everything the plants need and is specially formulated for tweed

  11. Hey man, plants look nice. Peat pots are not great because as you learned they retain lots of water. " Soil with everything the plant needs" means the soil has nutes in it which is bad. Most likely you are seeing the start of fert burn because they are just too young to have a deficiency unless the pH is off.

  12. will they be able to tolerate this or shall i repot them

  13. I suppose we can just wait and see. If leaf trouble begins, you know they are not doing well. You will probably have to eventually put them in bigger pots so if all is well until then, then you can do it then.
