my first grow room (tent) review / and a few questions

  1. Hi all,

So my first grow room (tent) is nearly planned and would like to run it by the forums:

    -DR120 II (4x4x6.5)
    -Quantum 600w ballast
    -Radiant 6" air cooled hood
    -Ratcheting light hanger
    -Horilux 600w HPS
-6” vortex (456cfm) - cooling the light (question 1 below)
    -Fan speed controller
    -6" vortex (456cfm) - cooling the tent
    -Fan speed controller
    -6" ducting (I shouldn't need much)
    -Oscillating fan
-400cfm Presh carbon filter (question 2 below)

    -Temperature/Humidity Meter (Recommendations?)
    -ph tester (Recommendations?)

-Fox Farm's Ocean Forest Soil (question 3 below)
    -Nutrients (Undecided)
    -pots - of course

    Questions:

1.) It's been indicated to me that when using an air cooled hood that 150-250cfm is enough to cool the 600w HPS, sound right? I'm thinking that one day I might have a veg tent and a flower and that by over sizing the fan I could use it to cool both lights, sound valid? (For now I would run the Vortex on a speed controller)

2.) I don't expect to be running the fan that cools the tent at full speed, if I run it at half speed (~200cfm) then would carbon filter rated for 400cfm still work?

Thought>>> Should I just simplify the whole thing and cool the tent through the hood/light? (carbon filter > hood > fan > vent) I think this a more common setup, yes?

3.) I haven't fully searched the forms yet but I thought I'd ask anyway. As I understand it "Fox Farm's Ocean Forest Soil" is pretty nutrient rich should I be starting my seedlings in a less rich soil?
