Hi this is my first grow and I am just looking for some advice to help me get a better crop. I recently bought 4 clones and have them in vegging right now. Idk if there is anything wrong as I would not know what to look for. I had a few questions like when do I start feeding my plants nutes. When should I start flowering and how to care for my plants correctly.
They are clones, so they are mature, sure their root are still young, so 1/2 strength for now. Really they can simply live off of the nutrients that they are living in right now, but I would feed them 1/2 strength right now. What I mean... is that I would treat them as if they were 3 - 4 weeks into veg right now. So I would feed them NPK 3-1-2, 400ppm, water ph 6.6. schedule... feed, water, water. Do that for two weeks, then you can go to full strength NPK 3-1-2, 800ppm, water ph 6.6. Then when you are ready to flip to flowering, keeping using NPK 3-1-2, water ph 6.6. for the first 2 weeks of flowering, but each week raise your ppms by 100, first week 900, second week 1000, then on the third week switch to bloom nutrients... NPK 1-1-2, water ph 6.6. Also raise your ppms again by 200 each week until you get to 1800, so week 3 of flower it would be 1200, week 4, would be 1400, week 5, 1600, week 6 until harvest, 1800, schedule for flowering... feed, water, important, be sure to flush before every feeding.
Thank you but I have a couple questions. What does ppm refer to? Is it the lighting? I have a grow room that I put them in at night right before the sun goes down and have them under 6500k fluoros for the remaining hours to keep it on 18/6 schedule. But they are outdoors for 12hrs a day
PPM stands for parts per million. It refers to the strength of your nutrient solution. A low ppm count indicates a weaker solution. A high ppm indicates a stronger solution. Starting out, just go with 1/4 of what it says on each nutrient bottle. Work your way up from there. Just remember to let the top of your soil dry out a little before watering them again. Also make sure you get at least 10% runoff every time you water. This helps to minimise salt build up in your medium. Good luck.
Some general information on your plan for the plants.. Moving them inside and out while it does take advantage of the free sun light exposes your plants to outside pests that can ride back inside where they can flourish with a vengeance.. . If your plan is to set them out for an outside summer run this is OK if your going to flower inside this is not such a good plan.. Outside plants I'd mix a good water only soil and skip all the bottle goo PPM and PH.. No need for that outside at all.. Easy Organic Soil Mix for Beginners Base for a water only mix.. BNW
Ok well thanks for the advice. I will be flowering outside also because I don't have a big enough room right now for 4 flowering plants. The only reason I bring them in when the sun goes down is because It still gets down to around 45-50° at night and it's in the 65-75 range during the day so I put them in with a heater to try to keep it as close to 60° as possible with about 65-70 humidity
Oh OK makes a lot of sense now thanks. And yes I make sure my soild is dry to my first knuckle before watering again. And right now I am just using a rooting agent once a week and just plain ph'd water the other times. Usually 2-3 waters a week. I also aim for 20% runoff when I water.
