So I got some bag seeds just to try this out, nothing to serious, I have been reading all of the stickies on here. Some great Info. guys! But to my question, I have a limited grow space, I have 3/5 seeds that have sprouted (germination process) and I want to grow in an area that is about 2 1/2 Ft Tall, by a foot and a foot. What can I do to have the plants flower but keep them around this size? If I only have to do one plant at a time im fine with that, Two plants would be awesome though. Thanks guys!
Yes you can get away with growing small plants. You would have to base it off of S.O.G (sea of green) technique. Simply put you take you seedling, let it be in vegetative for two weeks or even only one week then flower it. I can't be sure seeing I have not grown this way. So I recommend looking into S.O.G technique. I'm subbed so drop questions when ever
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. In my area I put aluminum foil up, I read that the aluminum foil was not the greatest, but its really all I have accessible, I am trying to keep this as cheap as possible for the first time grow. And I have read the stickies so don't flame. I understand that this Sodium bulbs produce a lot of heat but it seems to be that they are the best? Should I run the sodium bulbs or just 3 or 4 CFL's? I understand the kelvins, and im trying to get as much information as possible. I also read that I should use Miracle grow, but then I just read I shouldn't? What would your best soil choice from say a Home Depot or from Lowes. ALso to test the PH, I know that you have to test the runoff water, Could I have any more info? Thanks guys sorry about the long post
Yes HPS produce some heat, and in that small of an area your better off using CFL. x4 Homedepot 150watt And I don't recommend using the soil from lowed or home depot, if you can find a plant nursery. preferred FoxFarm ocean forest If not Home depot organic miracle grow soil (I don't know how safe it is, so look for some thing else is possible) Also if you can order nutrients from the internet a cheap easy to use set is Technaflora BC nutrients
If you have limited space you are going to need to do research on training your plant or flower very early. 2.5 feet is not a lot of room for a the plant. Also with a s[ace that small and your just starting out for best results you are going to want to use CFLS to negate some possible rookie mistakes in that small of an area.
For a place that "short" I would really look into SCROG, and I agree with using cfls. Check out the micro grow section for ideas.
In that small area with a HP/MH system you might run into heat issues. Great idea above is to refer to micro grow section as well.
Thanks a lot guys, I look forward to seeing what I can do! I do have a nursery in town and I called and they have the fox farm soil, so i'll pick that up today. Looks like only 2/5 of the seeds are worth anything. So I was thinking (2) 35 Watt CFL's, or is that way t little amount of watts? And Im pretty positive but when your looking at the CFL's you want to look at the watts being used correct?
I agree. I would use some LST as well to assist in maximizing space by bending her and tying down. Check out the plant training section.
Yes, with cfls you look at the ACTUAL watts, not the incandescent equivalent. Two 35 watt bulbs can be used for a start, but I would try to use more as soon as possible or as heat/money allows. If you use too little light, you plants will stretch and end up taller and produce less. If possible try for around 100 watts per plant, so for your 2 plants try to get as close to 200 watts as heat buildup allows. Try to stick with mainly daylight bulbs for vegging and cool white for flowering. This is just a basic starting point. There is a lot of good information available on this site, and a lot of WAY more knowledgeable growers than myself.
So I bought some Fox Farms soil, I have my 2 seeds in red dixie cups and two CFLS about a inch from the top of the soil. Now my question is how often should I water it? and when I do how much Water should I give them?
I'd back the lights off a few inches for now...seedlings are delicate... This might help: http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute-beginners/15076-germination-420-a.html
I backed them off, now I have yet another question. sorry guys, when I do the method of SCOG when and how far should I put the screen? Or should I even bother, being its my first grow, should I just flower them early?
I haven't done SCROG myself...try this link: http://forum.grasscity.com/advanced-growing-techniques/717261-how-scrog-videos.html?highlight=scrog
