Hi everyone, this is my first grow and I plan on growing for a long time following so I'm going to start it right with a grow journal. I forgot to take pictures during germination but I used the method where you float them in water for 24hours then put them in paper towels. I'm starting with two feminized NLights and two feminized Blueberry plants from seedsman. All four germinated quickly and went from water to soil in less than two days. I am using Coco Loco coco coir from Bush Doctor with two plants, one each, in a 5g smart pot and the same in two 3g smart pots. I have a 4'x4'x6.5' Mylar tent and have already purchased a carbon filter and inline fan. I will be using Roots Organic(RO) grow, RO bloom, RO HPK, and RO HP2 for all my plants unless I do not like the production of it. I currently have one BESTVA 600w(led) double chips LED full spectrum grow light. Model number GW-AQM55W. If you would like anymore information please feel free to ask. Today is their first day in "soil".
I have a few questions about how my setup looks and what I should look forward to adding over the course of the grow, more lights are obvious. What PH should I be shooting for? I know soil is 6.0-6.5 but I thought I read that coir is a little less forgiving. I have also been informed by the local hydroponics store that due to the coir brand I should not need to use any nutrients until about a month unless the plants state otherwise. Also am I supposed to start feeding them at 1/8 strength or 1/4? Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
One of the blueberry shave broken the surface as well as one of the NL. One of my fabric pots had a bunch of tiny mites crawling around in it. (I'm guessing from leaving it full and sitting out while I was waiting on the seeds to come on) I tossed the soil in the infected pot, the others look clean, and transported that NL to a small ceramic pot I have until I get some more soil. Hopefully tomorrow.
The two blueberry plants look sad so I decided to give them their first feeding today. 1/4 strength. Only watered around the plants because the coco is still moist from the last watering. The NL is the strongest looking one but has begun bending to get closer to the light. Fixing the issue by rearranging the pots hopefully that'll fix it.
So today I was able to grab some more Coco Loco and some perlite. I mixed it well about a 50/50 mix and transplanted the gals to smaller 1G pots as per the suggestion in that link. I've put these girls through more stress in the first week than I wanted to put them through their entire life but I think we are all settled in now. I fed them today with 6.0 PHed RO grow at 1/4 strength and the runoff was 6.0 as well. Both BBs are looking good but the NL that had to be transplanted at the very beginning has sadly not made it. It was a rookie mistake that I will not make again. I got some drainage trays so I can water them without worry of having to clean up the tents floor afterwards. Here's some pictures.
It has been a week and three days since I transplanted to soil. Just have them their third feeding. PH 6.5 I also added some photosynthesis plus and nourish-l to the nutrients to hopefully boost growth because I feel like they are a little small. It might be from all the stress early on but they are just starting to get their second sets of leaves (not counting the starting set) and I have switched over to 18/6 now that they actually seem like they are growing. Sounds like you've done some research and are pretty well prepared for this. That will help more than anything. So many people jump into growing without doing any research and end up with a mess. It looks like things are going good so far. Good luck with the grow!
Thank you brother. Doing what I can to get a healthy yield and not trying to waste money with a shit crop. My First Grow Journal https://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?posts/1469784/
The girls are starting to eat now officially on a daily feeding schedule keeping a decent PH but it's been such a pain measuring it. Trying to get used to PHing without a meter. I believe the added nutrients definitely helped some, as all three have shown decent growth overnight. They should start bursting with growth soon we shall see how it goes. I still need to get another light because the second BBerry is running behind not being able to get enough light. My First Grow Journal https://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?posts/1469784/
Finally got the 1200W Viparspectra in today now the girls can't complain about lighting one bit. My First Grow Journal https://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?posts/1469784/
Got her put up but damn that's a big bitch! My First Grow Journal https://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?posts/1469784/
Got the new light up. Fimmed the more mature BB and it seems to be recovering well. Had a few days without power thanks to Irma so the plants are looking a little sad but now we are back on track. I plan on growing the BBerry using only LST while only Fimming/topping the BB. And only using LST on the NL. My First Grow Journal https://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?posts/1469784/
Made a few adjustments. Moved the light closer about one foot. Began LST on the NL, BBerry has now been topped, BB is responding well to the Fim already starting to grow from the joints. My First Grow Journal https://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?posts/1469784/
Forgot to mention new light is causing tent temps to increase to 88. I've opened all lower vents fully and disconnected the carbon filter from the exhaust fan as I have the fan running now. Brought the average temps down to 82. Going to wait until tomorrow morning to see if the changes have fixed the heat issue. My First Grow Journal https://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?posts/1469784/
So got the tent temps down to an average 80 which the girls are just going to have to fight through until next paycheck but today I noticed some leaf tips browning on the NL. All the leaves that are browning are lower leafs which I don't think were getting much sun anyways. Looked it up said it might be potassium deficiency or nute burn. I am only watering with PHd water today hopefully I'll have a response in time for tomorrow feeding. Any help on the situation would be appreciated but other than that the girls are making progress. Not as much as I was expecting but it'll do for now. My First Grow Journal https://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?posts/1469784/
Good luck. Looking good, check out my first ever grow, 26 days into flowering!! First grow journal - 3 weeks into flowering!
