Hello all! This is my first grow and I couldn't be more excited. I bought a LSD clone today and transplanted it into its new home a few hours ago. I'm using a 2'x2'x63" tent with a California Light Works Solar Flare 200w LED light (complete cycle). Along with that I have a deep water culture 4" disc in a 5 gallon bucket with a watering ring topside. I have a 4" exhaust fan hooked up to a carbon filter. The clone is in an organic plug which is set into clay growing balls. I have a regular fan in there as well along with a temp/humidity gauge. I am using Hyper 16 nutrients and currently there is 2ML of Veg-A and 2ML of Veg-B in the bucket (~2.75 gallons of distilled water in the bucket total). That is a very small amount to start off with which should be good (as I'm told). There is also a CO2 bag in the tent as well. Roughly 2 hours after I transplanted the clone (with plug still) into the hydroponics setup, the leaves started drooping a ton. The pH of the water is 5.9-6.0 stable, the temp stays at about 80 degrees/45% humidity with the tent closed, and the light isn't too hot to be where it is. My friend told me that the drooping is normal and it should bounce back tomorrow but I am worried. He also said to put the fan on the low setting and have it blow directly on the plant to increase the root strength. Should I be doing this as well? The plant is getting a lot of wind from it, but it doesn't seem like too much to the point of hurting anything. I have a CVS cool water humidifier/vaporizer running in there in hopes of increasing humidity along with (3) 1 gallon buckets cut in half filled with water. The most recent pictures: The last picture is the most current setup. The fan is blowing directly on it which is holding the leaves up, but if you turn it off they droop as shown in the picture right above the last. Oh yeah, here's a little AK47 seedling that I germinated 7 days ago. It was doing well up until this morning when I noticed that the leaves were drooping as well
Transplant shock can cause short term drooping....So can lack of moisture or way too much water in the hydroton. Do you have an air stone in the bucket? Roots need oxygen.. I dont feed nutes at all for 2 or 3 days after transplanting (water only) and allow the roots to grow with a small amount of Nutri Boost in the res (an anti shock product) The fan should not blow too hard until the shock is gone (it increases stem strength not root growth)...if it is still drooping tomorrow check the PH and flush the res with water only. The seedling plug looks too wet in the pic...moist not drenched is what u want
Yes I have an air stone at the bottom. That's what I meant by 4" deep water culture disc. I'll check it tomorrow and see what's going on. If it's still drooping I'll take your advice and flush the system.
Thank you! They are both doing better this morning and not drooping so much. One question I have is when should I (if I should at all) trim the yellow leaves? The clone was taken 4 days ago from the mother plant and it has been in its new home for roughly 12 hours now.
Unfortunately the clone isn't doing so well right now. pH kept rising despite using the pH down product that I bought so I had to completely flush everything today. I used reverse osmosis water this time instead of distilled. I used ~13 ML of veg A and ~13 ML of veg B as per the Hyper 16 product instructions for 2.75 gallons of water. I think that since the pH got so high it caused the very small amount of nutrients that were already in there to become useless. And then here is the little AK47 seedling. I have been watering only when the soil is very dry on the top but I am still getting some yellowing on the tips of the leaves. Is this because of too much nitrogen in the soil or too little?
What are you taking PH with? I didn't read the whole thread but it just looks like a PH issue more than anything.
