So getting ready for my first grow! Just waiting on a few last items to come in before I start, and I still need to pick a strain.

At the moment I'm thinking Northern Lights or AK48

    Specs

Airtight grow box lined with white reflective sheets
Carbon scrubber with 120mm computer fan
    600W HPS Grow lamp
Coco/Pearlite with Canna coco A+B nutes
    5L grow bag

I plan on using a ScrOG, and doing some LST

    My questions:
    1) Any strain suggestions, and/or other ideas?
    2) is it ok to germinate in the 5L bag or should I get a smaller pot? Does it make much difference?
    3) As I'm only having 1 plant I am buying feminized seeds. Is it a 100% chance to be female? becuse if it is not It would put me behind alot.

Really looking forward to this project!

  2. No it's never 100%with fem seeds. There's always a chance for a Hermie. And an even smaller chance for a male. Even though chances are small I'd say from experience 10-20%. Him good luck brah, I'll be watching!

  3. You're a brit, go for some cheese...! I'm not to sure a computer fan will shift enough hot air to deal with the heat from a 600w light, you're better of with a mixed flow inline fan. Do you know the fans flow rating(normally m3/hr)...?

  4. Also start in smaller containers. 5 gallons is over kill for autos, imo. 3 would so same thing. Because with 600 watters u want your plants to get about 3-4 feet max, that's about how deep they penetrate. Now with 1000 watters you want 5 gal pots or bigger. But if u feel comfortable with 5s go for it. I just think it's a waste of organics. Gl

  5. Cheese stink like fuck and it's not worth much. I worked out the fan will replace the air 3-5 times a min.

  6. Anything green going on!

Started germinating my seeds today! Took me a bit longer to get going than I thought though.

    Went with AK-48

  8. Do you have any pics of your setup? I'd like to see how everything is laid out. I also want to try growing AK48 so this will be fun to watch.

  9. Is this grow dead?

  10. Yup it died, I was busy with other things and I neglected it and made some mistakes.

Anyway I have nothing but free time now, figured out what i did wrong last time, round 2 just germinated I'll get a picture of my setup soon.

I'm still not sure at what point I should put it under my HPS?

  11. Are you going to do another journal

  12. No point, same grow just trying it again after i fucked up.

  13. Here is my setup, as you can see i'm on a tight budget but i'm open to any suggestions for improvement.

I was pretty worried about the heat from the 600w without a decent fan (I guess it's a bit overkill) but I tested it out and it's fine. Even the cardboard some people said might burn isn't getting hot.

The box is lined with Mylar on the inside.

here is my plant which has just begun to sprout. I put it by the side of the light(it's in the mug) so it doesn't get too hot/too much light which is one thing I did wrong last time. I put some Mylar round it to block some of the light just in case, but would it be fine without it? How do I tell if it's getting too much light?

It sprouted properly but it didn't grow straight up and fell over? What happened? I think the root grew out the top.

  15. How are you germinating? Did you plant tap root down? You really need to get a good cfl 40+ watts for your seedling. That HID is too much for just a sprout.

  16. Yea I planted root down, I moved the pot very far away from the light (on the small cupboard with the glass on). It seems as though as it pushed though the top half of the stem was the root then the real stem starts where you can see the little bend, so i pushed the rest of the root down carefully.

Perhaps I didn't put the seed deep enough into the medium?

  17. Update: growing slowly coco dried out and I re watered about a day ago. How does it look?
