My first closet grow

  1. Hey Grasscity, I am a few weeks into my very first grow, and I was hoping I could get a little input from some of you guys & gals thatre more experienced than myself.

    So here's the breakdown:

Ive got 16 plants about 3.5 weeks into veg right now. I've got 4 in the backyard, 6 in an Aerogarden in my closet, and 6 in a couple of windowbox pots right next to the AG.

I have been continually adding more and more lights to the closet as my monetary situation permits, but most of this stuff has either been accumulated over the years, gifted to me, or i just straight up found. My only real expenses for this grow have been some CFL's and some connectors, soil, pots and Fox Farm Tiger Bloom & Big Bloom.

Seeds are all bag seeds I accumulated over the last year and a half. Some bubblegum, some silver lemon haze, some ice cream, strawberry cough, and some other random strains. they all got mixed up anyhow, so i suppose it doesn't really matter.

Like I mentioned before, money is pretty tight around here, so much of my setup is completely "MacGuyver-ed". The lights hang from heavy duty nylon cord, which are attached to coat hangers, which are attached to the shelving that was previously installed in the closet. I use a street sign to balance my hps floodlight. It's not pretty, but its adjustable, and sturdy, so I'm pretty happy with it.

All together I have 11 lights. (6) 27W Daylight CFL's that burn at 5000K, (3) 23W grow lights in the Aerogarden, a CF tube for side lighting, and a 660W HPS floodlight that I got for $Free.99 from a friend. I gave the plants two weeks of 24hr light, and then moved them to 12/12. Since the change in light schedule, my plants have been growing like crazy.

As far as nutrients go, I am using Fox Farms Tiger Bloom in tandem with Big Bloom, at about 1/2 the recommended serving. I've been trying to go easy on the nutes, as some of the plants in my Aerogarden began to show some signs of nute burn.

Enough yammering though, how about some pictures?
