I have grown a couple MJ plants outdoors with no success........all turned out male.......figured i would try my hand indoors. I have been posting on hipforums for awhile now getting my growbox built and getting all the necessities....well the light should be here tomorrow............the space is 1ft10in wide 4ft long and 6ft tall.......Fox Farm Ocean forest soil.........400W HPS/MH conversion bulb for veg. Plenty of intake/exhaust (don't feel like listing all the fans ) Painted walls flat white will be using fox farm grow big (for veg) NPK 12-7-7 and fox farm big bloom (for flowering) NPK .01-.3-.7. I'll be Ph testing the water and making sure the water is around 6-7.0. Hopefully all goes well. Ill continue posting in this thread as soon as i get some seedlings going...............i might be a lil slow due to posting on hipforums and here!!!!! Should be started within the next week at most. Well i received the light today and everything was lookin good until...........they forgot to send the HPS/MH conversion bulbs......was hopin to start germin some Ice seeds today but without bulbs i dont want to start yet so.......just another delay to add to the many.... well bout time to get stoned
So there i was sittin around bummed out cause the bulbs didn't come........and woila mr UPS showed up with the bulbs Got everything hung and in it's spot for the most part.........doin a temp check now. Will start germin some Ice seeds tonight
All i can say is wow, these 400w bulbs are WAY brighter than the 250w bulbs i had originally. But temps during the day right now (being summer) are way to hot and just all together WAY too hot during the day. Right now it has been running for about an hour and i checked it at 94 way high i know but it should get a lil cooler in there through the night. So any suggestions on somethin to cool it down some more in there so my plants wont burn up???? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Oh yea i almost forgot..........im germin 5 Ice seeds so as soon as they start sproutin ill start day 1 of this grow:: - 42o -
Well.....what kind of ventilation do you have? thats a fairly small space you are gonna need some good ventilation. I have limited experience indoors, someone else will be able to tell you what exactly you need.
I am growing in a space somewhat similar to yours, and I learned the hardway too. The only way around it for me was to just leave the door cracked, with a fan blowing fresh cool air in. And yes, my house smells like a skunk !
Well heres what i've decided...........all i have in the closet is grow stuff anyway so why have a box in the closet??? Why not just use the whole closet?? Old dimensions 1ft10in wide 4ft long 6ft tall......new dimensions 1ft10in wide 6ftlong 7.5ft tall.........just finished taking the box down......got to put a raised floor in the part that wasn't in the box to keep the plants off the ground.........then im going to hook everything back up and see if that helps with the heat issues at all should be done later this afternoon we'll keep y'all posted on what the temps get to now. - 42o -
Suggest you make sure A) your removing all the air from the room that means, Exhaust fan at the top that is capable of removing air at a rate of once every 1-3 minutes. B) you must exhaust your air out of grow room and it must not mix with your intake air supply. C) Your intake air supply must be atleast 3-5 degrees cooler than your grow room (I keep my intake air supply at 70* by pulling from an AC room D) last your circulating fan should be blowing towards your light. Do those four things and you should not have a problem with your heat. I would think a 4" exhaust fan will suffice, it just so it is cappable of removing appx. 85 cu. ft.
Got everything hooked up and am currently doing a temp check.........so far this evening the grow closet temps have been 80-75F and outside temps being 80-55. So far so good tonight.........will have to wait and see what the temps during the heat of the day do tomorrow suppose to be like 95ishF Will keep y'all posted. Ice seeds are still germin........should start seein some sprouts within the next few days - 42o -
Highest temp outside today 96F, hottest temp inside the closet today 84F so looks like i will be able to use this ventilation for the grow because in about a month the temps drop dramatically here so im not too worried about it!!! Now just waitin on some sprouts :: - 42o -
DAY #1--All 6 Ice seeds germed and sprouted (under the MH.....its 3ft away from the lil gals for now......will move it closer in a couple days).........woke up this morning to 6 lil sprouts out of the soil !!!!!! Two have their shells on em' still and the other 4 lost the shell and are showing their cotyledons!!!! Anyway day 1 is under way and i should have my digital cam back here sometime soon so i can get some pics up for y'all!!!! - 42o -
Day #4--Transplanted all 6 into 1gal. pots until flowering then thew will go into 3gal. pots. All 6 are showing their 2nd set of true leaves and are actually growing quite nicely so far. Ill keep ya posted. - 42o -
Day #9--5 out of the 6 are growing their first set of 5 bladed leaves (3rd node) and the last one is just starting to grow it's 3rd node (the runt) Temps have been a constant 65-75F throughout the day and night!!! Hope to have pics up for y'all soon. - 42o -

Hey guys, i've been running a 24/0 light cycle and the growth is nice and green. But i was wondering if i would benefit in anyway switching it to a 18/6 or if i should just keep it where its at. Any input would be appreciated! a toast to 13 days of smooth growth!!!!!! - 42o -
DAY 15---alright a pH problem has spread a lil bit through one of the leaves on one of the plants......not a big problem as the growth is still booming and the color is a really nice dark green with almost a purple tint (could be the way the MH is hitting them but who knows). Ordered some FF Grow Big and Tiger Bloom, some pest spray (dont have a pest problem but why not take the precaution ), and the pH tester & adjuster. Should be here at the beginning of next week so i can get that pH prob. taken care of! Still no camera............anyways everything is going pretty well. - 42o -
DAY 22---alright just received the nutes, pest spray, and pH adjuster kit. The old pH was at about 5. Added some nutes to the water and adjusted the pH to 5.75-6. Started LST on DAY 20, all the plants are taking to it well with the tops bent back towards the light and undergrowth coming along nicely!! Anywho just thought id throw an update up here since its been about a week. - 42o -
Been a long time since i last updated so i figured id throw one up here.......ALL 6 TURNED OUT TO BE FEMALE!!!!!!!!! DAY 41 -- DAY 9 OF 12/12 Plants are in this order in closet 2 4 6 1 3 5 Plant 1 - 9in tall....10th Node....9 Bladed leafs....2 Tops Plant 2 - 10.5in tall....11th Node....11 Bladed Leafs....4 Tops Plant 3 - 8in tall....11th Node....11 Bladed Leafs....9 Tops....LST'd Plant 4 - 8in tall....12th Node....11 Bladed Leafs....9 Tops....LST'd....Bushiest Plant 5 - 8.5in tall....10th Node....9 Bladed Leafs....5 Tops Plant 6 - 7.5in tall....10th Node....9 Bladed Leafs....2 Tops....Runt Total # of visible tops - 31 Plants 1,2,5,6 were LST'd up until the first day of 12/12......they were then "released" from their tie downs. They are now growing straight up, but still have a nice bend in them so they'll have a few "mini" tops other than the main cola. Plants 3,4 are going to be LST'd through the whole grow. They seemed to take the best to the LST'ing and became very bushy, very quick. So i kept these two tied down and let the others up. There are more tops than what i have stated. They just haven't poked through the canopy yet so i didn't count them as "visible" tops. If i were to count them the total number of tops would be around 45-50. All plants are female as stated earlier, the hairs are comin in nicely with hairs showing on the 3 top most nodes on plants 1,2,5,6. And on plants 3,4 the hairs are on all 9 "visible" tops, and on the 3 top most nodes of the main stem. Starting to smell quite nicely in the closet. Never recieved that camera.......have a claim pending with paypal at the moment. Hopefully ill be able to get some pics up before harvest. Should be plenty of time but with my luck who knows - 42o -
