My feet are killing me!

Discussion in 'Fitness, Health & Nutrition' started by PiperyNine, May 17, 2010.

  1. Hey guys, this might be trivial but I couldnt find a good place to post, I thought health was most relevant.

I dont post on any other forums so I though I'd ask here, MY FEET HURT! Any advice?

I stand for 8 hours a day for work and theyve become realllly sore over time. For instance I just got out of the shower and my heels are really killing me because I've been stood in my bare feet.

Anyone else with sore feet have any advice?

    Heh, thanks!

  2. Invest in some good, comfortable shoes with lots of cushioning on the sole.

  3. Go see a podiatrist and see if you need orthotics or something else. It's definitely not trivial - like my physical therapist used to say "your feet support everything."

If you have some structural foot problem, and it goes untreated for a long time, it will start to affect your knees, then hips, then back.

  4. Is this a new job? i.e. have you been standing on your feet 8 hours a day for less than 2 weeks?

  5. I second the orthotics. You can also get Crocs orthotics if you have to wear a certain type of shoe. Crocs makes work shoes if not.

If it's not just that you're new to being on your feet, get it checked out. You don't want to ruin your feet - ya only get one set.

  6. Look at shoes designed for nurses! They look clunky, but your feet will thank you!

  7. I would also suggest shoes made for the nursing profession. I used to do a lot of trade show work where I'd be on my feet for 12-14 hours a day. They aren't exactly stylish, but the comfort is well worth it.

  8. Don't skimp in the shoe department, either. In this case, you get what you pay for. Spending $80 on a good pair of work shoes that will last a long time and baby your feet is a lot better than spending $20 just to be in pain. (And they wear out faster, too.)
