I have only used maybe a half dozen different grinders, a few of em being SCS, Chromium Crusher, Sharpstone, and my favorite bringing me to this review, the Black Tie Grinder. Okay, so I purchased my black tie grinder from amazon about 5-6 years ago back when they had only one grinder to choose from, white on black. Today they have black on white and pink and from my understandings they upgraded it, which only excites me even more. So the total I paid for my grinder was $18 it was a 4 piece, same high grade aluminum/titanium alloy material or whatever the names of them are. The aircraft grade stuff, being that the black tie was my first grinder and I was 22 when I got it that means I always used the worst methods to grind my bud being either my fingers or a pair of scissors. That being said I didn't get my grinder for the purpose of grinding, but for kief and pollen production. I had spent many nights googling the best kief producing grinders only to hear about SCS and Mendo Mulcher, which by the way if you haven't read already from a previous thread, I have never had nor seen a grinder with such a weak kief game until I purchased my scs, but thats okay because I got it mainly because of it being purple. I firmly believe that a lot of people saying online otherwise are paid reviewers that or my grinder was defective idk, anywho..... The black tie 4 piece was purchased and shipped across the country to Texas at the time to get to me all for the price of $18, today they are $21. I was surprised to see not only that it came in a box and included a matching carrying bag, but it also included not one but two different kief brushes/shovels. Over the course of the next couple weeks I had put a half ounce thru it or so and was bummed out to see that the screen was green and nothing was at the bottom, so being the noob I was I was like I will just throw it in the freezer and see if they fall thru 25 mins later I grabbed it out of my deep freezer and to no avail, it was still stuck. So, reading online that this pollen screen was so nice, I thought okay well. I will just beat the grinder against my thigh or some other softish surface and as I went to unscrew the bottom kief was litearlly raining out of it, to the point the grinder was over full, so after that occurance I took the little brush that comes with mens beard shaving kits and brushed it, cleaned it and froze it. Now, since it was my first grinder at that time I had no idea of the level of quality in which I was holding, I did however realize that compared to all I have used prior, this thing just felt so good to twist and turn, to the point I would just pace around all day rotating it (I have ASD) Later to find out that the o ring in it was nylon and wasn't placed in some terrible spot, as well as noticing that I also noticed that below the screen wasn't any plastic that less quality grinders have in order to keep the screen stuck to wherever. Those two features alone provided such a nice grind, and the material just felt so good, it felt similar to nail polish yet far less thick. The quality of build was the one thing to blow me away as I had friends to paid damn near $50 for grinders that you could tell just wasn't a legitimate brand and pretty much a replica, it felt nice, I abused the hell out of that poor thing as I NEVER grinded my buds due to loving the feeling of feeling entire buds just flatten. Even then it held up, after 7 months of neglect the teeth finally started to dull ever so slightely, which is far better than what I had seen the chromium crusher do, being that over time the screen just popped off. Sadly, my best friend at the time was arguing with his mom and she threw all my smoking utensils away that he was holding onto for me. On a positive note though, not only does black tie have pink as well as black on white and white on black for color options, they also updated it to where the sides of the kief chamber is no longer angled, aside from having the perfect amount of holes to teeth, good seperation between as well as a very high quality product at a stupidly cheap price, the material is anything but, the bud didn't stick to the teeth, hell I even grinded some moon rocks one thanksgiving. But they give you a lifetime warranty, that's how sure the people at black tie are of their product, who needs a lifetime warranty on a $21 grinder? Nobody, but that doesn't matter in terms of making a point. Honestly, if yall buy the black tie from the link to their store I am adding to the thread, and compare it to other grinders you have used (not SCS) and it doesn't at least compete with the biggest brands like mendo or space case or beat other leading brands, I would have no problem putting bets up that yall will not be disappointed at all in the black tie, to the point that if I knew somehow a person was completely honest with me in expressing being let down, I would be more than willing to pay you twice the amount you paid, I am not saying this is a grinder everyone will love and swear by as I understand I have done nothing but talk this product up... But I am saying, I doubt there will ever be a time again that a grinder of such quality stays at such a cheap price not just for a little bit but forever. Bottom Line, if I had to rate Black Tie grinders, I would probably spend 15 hours thinking of any reason to not give it max rating as I really do love the grinder that much. I see people buying Chromiums and Sharpstones for $30 and think, they are paying so much more for much less quality. Although no longer on amazon, you can most likely get the grinder and all the goodies along with it shipped to your house and it not only be cheaper, but also you get a grinder with very similar material and machining schemes with your exquisitely priced grinders, (Im looking at you SCS) but you get a lifetime warranty to assure that it can't be a "too good to be true" scenario. I rate the black tie, the one I had anyhow a 9/10 If it wasn't for the angle of the pollen tray which is now FIXED with the current version, I would have rated it a full 10 The dedication to build quality goes all the way to the teeth, all the teeth were black and unlike the SCS the material feels nice, sleek, and ergodynamic. I personally do not like the material, of the scs and really only like mine for the color and bud storage. If someone wants a purple scs lemme know lol I would gladly trade a SCS for a black tie anyday of the week, despite it being $50 cheaper. The ONLY thing SCS and Black Tie have in common are similar grinds but scs is slightly fluffier, probably because that is what scs aims for I believe, when you see people online talking about how scs is best for maximizing kief, don't even listen to it, this could be just my grinder but if not I don't see why anyone is content with paying more than $45 for one. When I order my space case I will also order the new black tie. That review will be comparing black tie, to scs and space case. If anyone has used or had a black tie and has also used a premium grinder such as mendo, cali crusher, SLX etc and can shed light on their opinion that would be dope, as it is kind of why I am doing this! Now, pull out a jackson and let your mind be blown!! https://blacktiegrinders.com/
