My definition of Overdose

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Deep Blue, May 3, 2011.

  1. I know as soon as all of you saw the title your face got insanely red and you said "THERES NO SUCH THING AS POT OVERDOSE DUMBASS!". Well, you're right if you're talking about lethal pot overdose. But there is a such thing as a pot overdose. Just because you overdose doesn't mean you'll die, it just means you took too much of your drug. Say if your average dose of pot is a joint, and one day you decide to smoke 2 joints, well, that's an "overdose" because you excedeed your normal dose. Overdosing on ANY drug can be bad, but most people think that overdosing on pot has no adverse effects at ALL, but that's definately not the case. First off, I absolutely LOVE weed, and I only put it down when it's the truth. This is a story of me "overdosing" on pot.

Setting : Summertime, morning/early afternoon, warm sunny day in my back yard near my pool.

About me at the time : I had been smoking pot for about a half year and wasn't too built up to THC.

Strain : Orange Kush (Now looking back at this, I know this strain was WAY too strong for me back then)

Smoking tool : Glass bowl (a couple months after this experience it was confiscated by police D:)

Story : Okay, so I had about 2 bowls worth of Orange Kush, at the time the only buds I really smoked was mids, so I thought OK was going to be the same (BIG MISTAKE). I was all alone with my family in my house, so I went out behind my garage with my glass bowl, smoked it all within 5 mins, and felt it coming on, so I sat down next to my pool and let it take its full effect. 15 mins later - I felt extremely anxious and paranoid, I kept hearing one of my friend's voice saying "beep beep bop oob gloob" (or something like that) All I remember about this is that he sounded like he was trying to imitate a robot. Also, I started hallucinating and kept seeing eyes EVERYWHERE, they would just appear in the sky, like a massive dome of eyes, and they were all staring at me. I could NOT sit still, I was too anxious and scared. Then I closed my eyes and saw a computer-rendered model of me with a spiritual-looking doctor looking down at it, and it was rotating, everything seemed insanely un-real and foreign, and massive! It's extremely difficult to explain the effects I got. D: After about 20 mins of pure panic attack I went up to my room and sat on my bed, and noticed the same effects except they were slowing coming down and I was very glad about that. The entire experience I thought I was going to die from a heart attack. That was by far the WORST experience I've ever had with ANY drug. Lesson learned : Don't smoke too much weed before you know how it's going to effect you.

  2. tldr, op you cant od on weed

  3. I dunno, I could smoke all day long without freaking out about it. But, everyones different.

  4. Your definition of Overdose as opposed to Webster's?

You really shouldn't go around saying that was your worst experience with any drug when presumably you've had little experience with anything else. You can have a panic attack without any substances btw.

  5. i had to much good-good awhile ago, woke up the next mourning with a headache for the rest of the day.

  6. Nope. I said with a straight face "yehp, there is just thing as cannabis overdose. You can overdose on water, pot wouldn't be any exception".

I'm not reading that wall of text but,

    — n
1.\t(esp of drugs) an excessive dose

I'd consider greening out an overdose. Usually when people think overdose they think death, or serious deadly effects. That can be the case, but not always.

  7. The definition of overdose, is an excessive dose; To take a dose or give an excessive dose to.

It technically isnt defined as taking a dose classified as toxic in humans, thats an LD-50 generally (dose required to kill 50% of the test population) which is physically unreachable for cannabis in humans unless you took an outrageous approach to consuming cannabis in unconventional ways....

OP is technically correct, you CAN overdose on cannabis..... in all realities of the word, one can not lethally overdose however.

Since people wanted to make semantics an issue in this debate i figured we may as well use the CORRECT semantics

  8. Just because you were uncomfortable doesn't mean you OD'd. I ate a whole pizza last night and was uncomfortably full. Did I OD on pizza?

  9. When I first started out I had a panic attack, or something similar maybe. Completely my fault though, took way too much for what my tolerance level was at that point.

It was probably mostly in my head, but I got seriously dizzy, felt like my heart was slowing (wasn't really), voices sounded muffled, and my face was pale white. I just chilled out for about an hour and was fine. Never has happened since.

Today I feel like I could smoke a fucking ounce and nothing bad would come from that.

  10. man, i wish i still got that blitzed....

  11. You took an excessive dose of pizza? Then yes, you did OD on pizza

  12. yes you did lol

  13. I got curious what the LD50 of thc was, so I did a little googling. This is from wikipedia:

So...definitely not lethal...but however you define the rest is up to you I guess.

  14. That isnt even a correct LD-50 as it refers to the amount of cannabis, when all cannabis contains vastly different ratios of cannabinoids and such. A correct statement would have to include the LD-50 of THC, THCV, CBD, CBN, etc.... Cause according to above, one could smoke 1500 pounds of shwag and have the same experience as someone who smoked 1500 pounds of the highest quality of bud.... but we know that, in such a large quantity, the amount of cannabinoids would be very different... if shwag is roughly 5-10% THC (not a correct number either), while very high quality can reach 25% THC you can see how large the difference would be at such a quantity.....

  15. A dome of eyes you say? Maybe I should try finding some Orange Kush....

  16. Sounds cool, i wanna get that high

  17. Basically, the OP smoked more/better bud than he could handle. He "overdosed" to the point of paranoia, not death (since it's essentially impossible to take a lethal dose of cannabis).

  18. Haha no, trust me, you don't. Anyways, I'm not trying to make weed look bad, I'm just trying to say you CAN get BAD effects from it if you smoke too much. And all you sarcastic little fucks saying "Ohh I ate too much pizza, did I overdose?", no you overdosed on ignorance. Also, FYI, it was the worst experience out of the following drugs I've tried...Mushrooms, weed, dxm, vicodin, oxycodone, and ayahusaca. So, yeah, I'm not that experience with drugs, but I'm experienced enough to say that you shouldn't fuck around with too much of shit you're not that familiar with (I learned this the hard way) but this story was like 3 years ago so I'd say I'm a little bit more experienced now.

  19. I was just giving an example. Obviously you can "get BAD effects from it." Who the hell are you to call me ignorant? I have terrible anxiety that ruined smoking for me, so trust me I know how it feels to feel like shit from smoking. Thing is, it's in your HEAD.

This is where I differentiate between other drugs. You don't have a physical OD from weed. You just freak out in your head. My point about the pizza was that you can't just say, "I had bad effects. I OD'd."

What the hell does that even mean, "you overdosed on ignorance?" Man you're really pushing my fucking buttons.

  20. Sorry to hear about the anxiety, because I get that sometimes to, it can really fuck up a good time, huh. Anyways, I thought you meant...wait wha...Can't reply at this time...too high
