Whats up grasscity. ive been lurking around just readin up and researching the how to grow for a while now. picked up some white widow seeds from downtown the other week so i germinated a few of them, some failed miserably whether it was my method or dud seeds i dunno.. i tried a few methods but found the most success with the papertowel way so thats what im gonna stick with. Anyways heres my plants so far the smaller one is white widow and the bigger indica looking one is bagseed from some stuff called "orange fire kush So far its been kind of a rough road, failed germinations, horrible transplants - i had them in really crappy containers so that made it really awkward to transplant it.. surprised they even survived after that...... ANYWAYS theyre just coming up to the 2 week mark i think? kind of lost track ive been busy. i picked up some 20-20-20 ferts from canadian tire and used full strength like an idiot and burnt the whitewidow, so right now im trying to flush out the nutes with just clean water. ive heard some people say flush with excess amounts of water but i dont want to drown my babies! tell me what you guys think, and how i can improve. Strapped for money as i am a broke student. What im working with: 15x9x26 tupperware box lined with aluminum foil 2 75Watt CFL, 1 50Watt CFL computer fan plant prod ultimate fertilizer - 20-20-20 for vegetative and 15-30-15 for flowering Black earth soil (went cheap) keeping it on a 18-6 light schedule. obviously the next time around i do this itll be muuuuch better already forming the plans for the next box cheers!
Cheap ingredients equals cheap weed. I think you're doing fine but relax the plant will grow just fine if you just don't over water it, over fert, provide only stale air, over heat, and some more things that you will learn soon. good luck yo
The ladies just got their second feeding, im not exactly sure if i should be fertilizing quite yet, im assuming so because the soil i got wasnt all that great.. fertilized them last night and just checked back now and found the more indica looking one pushed up against the wall so i gave her a bit more space. anyways some serious progress in only a few days!! anyways i want to know if i should LST / top these ladies?? any input? NEW BOX COMING SOON!
You probably going to need to use some type of training, it all depends on the height of your grow box and the type of lights. HID penetrates foliage anywhere from 18" to 3+ plus feet , cfls a few inches to 18" or so on the really large ones ie 200 watt cfls. LEDs are getting much better at penetrating but I'm not all that familiar with them to state their penetrating power.
im thinking LST, because i really dont want to cut them! whats the best way to hold them down? ive seen a few methods like using a bread tie in the dirt, or using string through holes in the actual pot. the new box is 29 inches tall so ive got the ladies boosted up on some shoe boxes. New lights as well, i heard something about blue lights are better for veg state and red for flowering so im going 2 blue + 1 red for veg then 2 red+ 1 blue for flowering. Tell me whatcha think heres the new box, i meant soon when i said soon
The more light the better. So just keep adding light, i.e you currently have 2 blue 1 white, just add a couple more lights...and if you already have the lights but are only using 3 add the fourth light asap...don't wait for the flowering.
some updates i think i fucked up the topping of the orange fire kush plant(yeah i know i said i wanted to LST them but topping seemed so much easier!) however the white widow is just loving being topped. looks like 8 new shoots of growth! do you think the pots are too small? at the bottom i can see what looks like 1 or 2 roots through the drainage holes. also the orange fire kush is starting to brown a little, maybe some sort of deficiency? i checked the sick plant sticky and i cant seem to match anything to it. its hard to tell from crappy phone pics. the white widow has the smallest light green spots on 2 leaves, i think thats a nitrogen deficiency? anyways im upping the fertilizer dosage to 1/2 dose next feeding and probably more frequent feedings now. here are the ladies!
bumppppp Also wondering if i should top 1 more time? maybe even 2 more times? i want to maximize my yield.
They're looking good. Id say yes your pots are def to small. Especially If you can already see the roots. And if you want to maximize your yield, lst it. The more work you put into it, the more youll get in the end.
whats upppp, big update today! check 'er out. i transplanted because those old tiny pots were farrrr too small, pulled out the rootball and i shouldve done it earlier but oh well im sure theyll love their new home . starting to get stinky, i love it. how much longer do you think i should veg? grow space limited obviously refer to the dimensions of the NEW box and let me know!
hey, thanks for the reply. i was wondering about that actually. i took some measurements last night white widow is 8'x15' (really bushy ) i topped it twice. and the orange fire kush is 10'x12'. so i just switched my light cycle now and extended the dark period to 12/12. i have 2 red lights that im going to pop in place of the blue and some 15-30-15 fertilizer ill be using.
As I said earlier, keep the blue light on and just add the red one(s). In nature, the sun provides both spectrums at the same time the only difference is the amount of each spectrum.
