My Aussie STS Experiment, Female "X Pollen"

G'day all,
I made up my own Silver Thiosulfate Solution or "STS" a little while back.

The Silver Nitrate (AgNO3) cost me $30 for 10 gram's, and $20 for the
Sodium Thiosulphate "Pentahydrate"(Na2S203-5H20) Quantity: 200g. Purity:High Grade >99% Purity.

This will give you 10 liter's of STS for $50. Considering the high cost of the Colloidal Silver @ AU$30 to AU$50 for 500ml or less, depending on wether it is 50ppm to 500ppm.












Please keep both solution's in the fridge...




For the first 5 day's i sprayed the whole plant once, but as i was "unsure" of how potent the recipe was or wasn't i started spraying every 2nd day.

Please spray the plant "at night" if your cutting's are outdoor's & if your indoor's spray before "light's out" i can't stress this enough as the Silver Ion's are extremely light sensitive. I wont be held accountable if it's applied during the day & can't guarantee it will be successful.

To initiate the solution spray the plant, and change to a 12/12 cycle...

Hey boss, I've used up 500ml of the STS so far. But you can stretch that out as I've been very generous in application over the "whole" plant. You can just spray each of the "node's" if someone is using Colloidal Silver...

Better safe than sorry...

 

Strain = "Feminized" Super Skunk from Nirvana Seed bank. So the Hermi factor is all but zero, since they have already selectivity breed out the hermaphroditism trait over time.

Im adding my write up here as it has relevance to my topic,

Making Feminized "X" Pollen seed's,

A Female plant that pollinate's "It's Self" will produce an XX Seed. Even though it has Male sex organ's, the Pollen is an X Chromosome. You will either get a Female or a Hermi. In this method you are inbreeding, keeping the same genetic's.

#2
Two Female plant's, one "Pollinating" the "other" Female. This will produce an XX Seed. The Male Pollen is still an X Chromosome, in this method you are "changing" the Genetic's.

And there are "Two Methods" to achive this outcome through,

#1 Natural Rodalization.

#2 Chemically induced Hermaphroditisum.

The pollen contains only female, or X, chromosomes because the plant has no Y, or male, chromosomes. The progeny will inherit an X from the male flower’s pollen and an X from the egg donor female flower. The resulting seeds can only inherit two X chromosomes, which means that almost all the resulting seeds will be girls! Congratulations!

Now you got it! The plant that "pollinated itself" does have a higher chance of having hermie seeds, but if it's pollinated by another girl then "True Feminized" seeds you will have. To a point...

Breeder's these day's dont Feminize Seed's through "Rodalization". As we have CS & STS Methods.
The "Hermi Trait" is "breed out" over time, till it give's a stable strain. Accounting for the 99.99% chance.

 

Female Flowers have nearly fully receded, making way for shemale ball sack's...

The Shemale's are now getting moved to a place inside soon. So dont worry "Aussie's" as they are no where near maturity yet...

 

So last night i took off a few of the pod's to see if there was any pollen yet, and no there wasn't as i already suspected there no where near maturity yet.

I bought two 50 liter clear plastic storage box's today to do this,


It is a cheap option, but i can contain the pollen in these & keep the surrounding area sterile. The lid's will have holes drilled into them to provide them some air flow & i can cut up some rectangles of "Shade Cloth" to affix to the containers lid's so i dont have to worry about any pollen getting through the hole's if any of the pod's burst.

Secondly when it's time for there 12 hour's of sleep, i just pull the blind's down & throw a black blanket over them till morning. All to easy...

 

Ok. Day 20 and the pod's still have "no" pollen inside, i read that this may happen to the first lot of sack's that appear???

G'day there boss, im on day 22 and the female pod's still have no pollen in them.

Was this to be expected, im not sure what is going on! Any help would be great bud?

Hey boss, are you doing CS or STS version?

I kind of had a set back guy's. Not a fail,
I fell ill and couldn't tend to my plant's. They were still in the dark for 3 day's so i was expecting a reversion back to Veg, i dont know if this was going to happen though. But i did destroy them to the compost bin, but i plan on "adding" to this thread next summer as i will be taking the cutting's very early in the season so I'll have more time to mature the pollen before any female's are in flower.

Still a "successful experiment" in making up the Silver Thiosulfate Solution, but a small fail in the finishing of it.
