\tThe body is an amazing conglomeration of organic parts designed to work perfectly with each other. Unfortunately, sometimes these parts work less than perfect, and can end up unhealthy and diseased. The urinary system of the body is no exception to this with many disorders such as urinary incontinence, urinary retention, kidney diseases and more. In this article, we'll describe one of the more painful disorders, kidney stones.

Kidney stones are hard crystallized objects formed from urine that did not dissolve properly. Urine concentrated in a single spot is the cause of this. The stones grow as more minerals are collected, forming in a various amount of sizes. They grow from two millimeters to ten millimeters in average sizes, but in the most extreme case, there has been a stone that grew to be two and a half pounds.

Kidney stones that grow to be of adequate size can cause extreme pain. The stones pass along your urinary tract causing pain all along the lower body. Although it leaves no permanent damage, the pain is often unbearable. In the past, kidney stones would usually be the cause of death if not treated fast enough. In modern times, there have been new treatments created to combat kidney stones.

The treatments are lithotripsy, surgery, the utereroscope and pain relieve used in conjunction with each treatment. Lithotripsy uses sound waves to crush the stones into dust that will travel the tract safely. The uterereoscope is a camera used to help a tool pinpoint the stone and crush it. Surgery can also be used by going into through the back to destroy the stones.

All those treatments will cost you a pretty penny, so the best advice is to work towards the prevention of the problem before it starts. By drinking more water, you can prevent urination from happening more frequently. By eating less proteins you can affect the urination process. Lastly, taking medication can change the acidity of the urine to prevent stones from forming.
