So, instead of our traditional cannabis grow:here we have another amazing plant found in nature. It's called papaver somniferum - AKA the opium poppy. As well as cannabis, this plant has also been used medicinally, as well as recreationally for thousands of years. Now, my object for this grow is simple: I want the seeds, and the pods to make tea. I'm not going to slit the pods, nor am I going to be making heroin with them. While this plant is controversial, one cannot deny the sheer beauty of it. Some of the seeds I got are true white genetics;so, the flowers should[will]be as such. From what I've read[and I haven't read too much]which, I probably need to start reading some more]]poppys are exactly the opposite of canna. They flower in long light exposure, and veg in cold, short winter days. They also like very sandy soil. Genetics: The beans labeled Afghani, are literally from shit-hole Afghanistan. How cool is that?! They never would think some guy, sitting on his front porch at 10:30 Saturday night would be super excited about having something that is so abundant to them. A good buddy of mine that I met not long ago was telling me about his deployment into Afghanistan not too long ago, and talked about the poppy fields, etc. Just so happened that he had some that he was willing to part with. Personally, I've never seen any white beans;cool, nonetheless. [I think, anyway] British Pharma Poppy. So, just as the name states: these are pharmaceutical grade poppies, from a field in Britian. These, also, were given to me by my buddy. I'm not too sure of the history behind these, I just know they were bred to increase alkaloid concentration for the pharma industry, which should tell you everything you need to know. I'm not going to feed these as much as I would my canna, because I still need to feel them out. The ones I have growing right now look actually spectacular to have been only fed whatever the hell is in Happy Frog/Ocean Forest & about 1/3 of a bag of Pro Mix HP. The pH is at 6.3, as it should be. Not much to really report/show, as of right this minute[unless I show the ones growing now]. I planted 1 row of the Afghani beans earlier today, and will plant the pharma ones tomorrow. Wish me luck & enjoy!
