http://imgur.com/92rViki Has anyone ever seen this happen before? If so, what were your results with the plant? Thanks guys
I believe the correct term for that is "polyploid". It's rare, so very cool shit if you make it all the way to flowering with her. I would make it a mother if it's a dank strain doin that bro. Check this link out http://boards.cannabis.com/advanced-techniques/200721-superbud-polyploidy-marijuana-botany.html
The article said that they grow 30% larger than usual but also take much longer. The buds also look really weird, you can google it. But i'm not sure if its actually a polyploid because they said it doesn't naturally occur in marijuana, it only happens when you add a chemical to the seed.
Dude I had some Critical Kush that looked very odd from sprout too, very elongated wrinkly leaves. I thought they would just grow out of it but trust me they don't. If they looked mutated, they are. It was a total waste of my time to try and finish them, they just grew awful and produced nothing but seeds. If it looks fucked it probably is, wouldn't waste my time pop another.
@Bootfullofbuds No, that is NOT a polyploid! Polyploid refers to an abnormal number of chromosomes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyploidy What we have here is a case of whorled phyllotaxy! http://growwiki.thegrowcorner.com/index.php?title=Whorled_Phyllotaxy I've had a few over the years. My advice is to keep it in veg as long as possible. The whorled trait disappears as soon as the plant starts alternating leaves. By keeping it in veg, you get an extra branch at each node and that means more buds. As soon as you go to 12/12, the plant grows normally. By harvest, the only way you can tell the plant had whorled phyllotaxy is by looking at the bottom branches on the plant. A while ago, over at IC, they had dude crossing plants with WP and were getting ones with even more leaves at each node. My results were slightly over half were males, and the females produced a little bit better than their normal sisters. The trait looks cool in veg, but once you go into 12/12- it's gone. Granny
Right on, thanks for the insight. When you say keep it in veg longer, how much longer are we talking here? A week or two or like a month?
How big of a plant can you handle? lol Each node gives you one extra branch which will grow a bud. More branches = more buds! So the longer in veg the better!
I have a critical kush that mutated and two of the main branches grew together to form one big ass branch. The bud looks weird as hell Sent from my N861 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
