Mutant Marijuana Experiment

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by amindmachine, Feb 18, 2019.

  1. One of my plants only produces three leaves so I singled it out &
it’s been growing under subpar conditions.
I’m hoping to grow one single bud.

  4. Thank you, I’ve been trying to find more information on it,
I read some strains like OG & Skunks May carry the gene,
I read some have three during veg & 5 during flower.
    Interested to see what happens.

  5. I am doing this journal to supply researchers with a voyeuristic look into a mad professors experiment with #WhorledPhyllotaxy #Triploid
Growth & Behavior and also my findings,
I came across an article stating some strains start off as Triploids
Such as OGs & Skunks, The strain of this particular plant is unknown.
It was a grown in the wild harvsted full of seeds, barely smoked it.
Just took the seeds from a friend who had been.

Here’s a picture of it in some natural sunlight,
I’ve dropped the temp in the room down,
there seems to be some purple emerging.

  7. I don't this is quite the same thing.

    Triploid | Encyclopedia.com

Triploid and polyploid plants have more chromosomes than a normal diploid. Cannabis will throw out lots of variation in leaf structure. I've had normal plant throw anywhere from 3 to 13 blades. And an actual poly that grew 3 branches at each node and threw out even blades numbers. Ever seen an 8 blade leaf?[IMG]

  8. Notice how the leaves aren't opposite of each other. And count the blades on the upper center leaf.

  9. I originally put it under the tag “Whorled Phyllotaxy”
Vostok mentioned triploid. I looked up many forums before decideing to create a thread myself on the subject; as there is no clear-cut threads.
I’m hoping to gather as much information as possible here only on
    #TriWhorledPhyllotaxy

  11. Yeah, I've never seen a good, clear cut explanation. It seems most of our plants start with 1 leaf then go to 3 and 5 many times ending on 7 or higher. I've noticed some clones revert tho. Cut with 7 and root, then it grows out 3. Not sure how that works out. The clone is as old as the mother effectively. I suspect it may be related to rooting hormones... Anybody out there got any ideas?

  13. Just curious as to why you started it in flowering it looks like a normal plant to me besides that. I havent had a plant that didnt start with 1 and then 3 yet..

  14. It immediately started to flower I was wondering myself.

  15. Tbh though I do keep an couple ridiculously short plants to for a jam packed powdered donut hole lookin top cola.

  16. My Auto Tangerine Dream started out with big ass three finger leaves and I did some reading. It could be the ruderalis gene showing. But once she started growing more, she’s got mostly five. I thought she was a mutant too! Especially since she started out so slow. Maybe yours will change to five leaves after more growth. Maybe she’s an auto. That could explain the flowering. How old is she?

  17. I’m hoping she’ll go to five too, idk gotta be around two months maybe

  18. Even heard of the duck foot mututation lol when the three leaves merge and appear webbed like a duck foot, apparently it’s a strain outta Australia. I just transplanted to a bigger pot even though she’s not pot bound.
